shroom success stories?

I recently read about the psilocybin (read sillycybin) mushroom therapy on clusterbusters. forgive me if I am missing something as I am a Newbie. When readin about it, I immediately got overwhelmed with excitement to try this. As a small business owner I can't afford to lose any time to my annual cycle of pain, and the loss of focus that accompanies my CH attacks. I would like to hear from anyone who has had successful results from this therapy. I have ordered supplies and will soon undertake my own tests. It seems to be the preferred natural choice. Cheers, Bryan

I couldn't agree more that it is the preferred natural choice. I have had nothing but complete success with shrooms. It has stopped two cycles dead in the tracks for me and this time of the year i would normally be in a cycle, but I'm not. I really do think that mushrooms were put on this earth to help people with cluster headaches. I can't say enough good things about my experience with them. good luck!

O not so "silly" Clusterpunk! So not-silly that researchers at Harvard University have recently started research on the use of psilocin (from psilocybin mushrooms) and LSD to treat CH - largely due to the efforts of a few brave souls at Clusterbusters who have, over the years, successfully treated their CH in this manner. It IS exciting and I'm glad you "get it"! Y'see the indole ring molecules in both LSD and psilocin are similar to serotonin which may be implicated in CH, and even Imitrex and other tryptans used successfully by many CHers. It is important that you are as well informed as possible before starting this treatment. Please read everything you can on the Clusterbusters site and the links provided there. Not everyone gets relief from one single dose and some need to repeat-dose at regular intervals so it is important to have sufficient supply to continue dosing should it be necessary and know roughly how much to take and when. Sadly, this is not something you can just decide to do NOW and Hey Presto it's all over. This requires a little planning for the best results. Let me know by IM if you need further info. O! AND Welcome to the site! firebrix

Basically pf since June 14, 2003. I avoided a certain 4.5-5.5 month cycle with this method. The biggest advice I can give you is to study up and read as much as possible. Good luck, John

I have been able to abort 3 cycles and prevent one all together with this treatment since 1999. I can say without a doubt that it has given me my life back. Read up and ask questions. Best of luck to you!

Should have read it better - you have seenit. But there stould be a section with success stories too. anyway I am one of 'em. Since I started shrooms, I stillget visited but the beast is muzzled. Attacks are all down to 3 on the Kop scale, which is next to nothing. Yers, they are still there, but If I hadn't known about clusters from experience I never would have thought I was getting attacks!

Ok Everyone have the medicinal variety of mushrooms in hand and will soon (tonight) give this therapy a sincere test. Had I been doing this back in my college years (1984-92) I would have broken out mind toys along with the Hawkwind, Flaming Lips, and CAN albums. But this is purely a low dose medicinal test...and I'm sure i'll probably still break out the tunes...LOL I have read some testimonial info from the clusterbuster site and will initially make two cups of tea. One will be for the first headache...the second for the following haeadche that many experience after the first is wiped out by the shroom tea. As a backup, I also have my trusty O2 tank. But I prefer to find relief in nature. GW Bush may not give a shit about the power of nature, but I do. Living where I live, nature is an integral part of life....the ocean, the mountains, the rivers, the treees...and it comes as no surprise that this therapy may very well be what the Mother ordered. I'll report back after the test...

...if I may add my testimony... it works for some and not for others... do not despair if, at first, the RELIEF does not come..... but the odds are about 4 to 1... that it WILL work..... beats shit outta the stuff that costs a lot .... and has a LOWER success rate.... and the oxygen: what could be less toxic? good luck....not4 PS: want details?.... email or PM me.....

Ok everyone so I gave the medicinal mushrooms a go last night. But before I get started, the two main triggers for me are sugar and alcohol. If alcohol is metabolized into sugar by the body I am guessing sugar levels in my bood may have something to do with the onset of headaches. Has anyone tried fasting or natural cleanses to purge the body of impurities and toxins? So the episdoe started as planned, 45 minutes after I finished a very small bowl of ice cream. Within 5 minutes of the onset it was a full blown barn burner...I had already started heating water on the stove and just needed to drop in the mushrooms to let them steep for twenty minutes. I let them go for about fifteen and then started sipping on the tea. Within 45 minutes the follwoing happened -Headache subsided to a manageable level...kind of like it feels at the end of an episode, pulsing, but just enough to make you uncomfortable, not debilitating. - The first noticeable effect was the elevated sense of anxiety and laughter. I drifted between nervousness and giggling at the television, which I could have never watched dring an episode. Learned alot about home repairs and watched some funny sitcoms... -The headache stayed at a manageable level for the rest of the evening...until about 4:30 Am when I finally drifted off to sleep...with he help of a melatonin. -awoke at 7am with another heaadache. This one was a bit more than the lower grade headache I had been having after the mushrooms, but wasn't anything like a regular headache. So I went to the freezer, pulled out a tray of ice and dumped it into a ziplock bag, then returned to the couch. I placed the bag on top of my head so that the entire bag was covering just the top of my head. Within 5 minutes, the headache was gone and I had fallen back into a sleep. After 3 hours of sleeping I awoke with no headache, just some mild temple tremors. I decided to refill the bag and see what it was like to put the ice on my forehead, and temples...bad move. Immediately I could feel the headache trying to return. I put the ice back on top of my head and everything subsided within a few minutes. So I laid there on the couch with the ice on my head for a few more minutes and then came in to the office. I'll give you updates over the next 7 days with info about the headaches... or hopefully a lack of them. I fully understand this may take a second treatment but am open to as many as is needed. Something definitely happened, the intensity dropped immediately, and the overall energy was nothing compared to the episodes I have been experiencing over the last few weeks, since this cycle started. Cheers B

It is VERY IMPORTANT to do the following. BTW these are true of coping with CH in general but can dramatically improve the chances of success with shrooms: 1) REDUCE your sleeping time and keep it REGULAR. No more than 6 hours a night. NEVER sleep during the day. Try and keep it midnight till 6am. 2) Try and eat 6 small meals or snack each day. One every 3 hours. Ensure you eat immediatly prior to going to bed, and also very first thing in the morning. 3) Do not allow yourself to become thirsty. Drink a pint of water first thing every morning. 4) Attempt 20 mins of light aerobic exercise (exercise bike is good) early in the morning. Perhaps just prior to eating that first meal. If you get a headache, then switch to eating a very small snack first. This increases your metabolism for the day. I know CH and shrooms both bring about an urge to grab some sleep, but sleep itself is a trigger especially over sleeping. Restricting your sleeping works wonders. Avoid any OTC painkillers. So far we have focused on dosing only once every 5-7 days but it could be that taking a smaller quantity on a more regular basis will work just as well. I am working on a 1/4g dose first thing in the morning, 9 hours later, then last thing at night EVERY day until termination. Try the 5-7 day method first since that's more proven. Good Luck! Flash

Sorry to butt in on this. How important are your points 1-4 Flash? it's taken me quite some time to plan for a dose this weekend, and my life is currently 'hectic'. Hope its working for you Clusterpunk. -Lee OK, sorry, just re-read it and you said VERY IMPORTANT.

What if you like mushies and want to trip your balls off? Would it still be therapeutic or would the efficacy be negated?

When I first discovered this treatment I was tripping my balls off. Over the years I've pegged it back to the minimum. I should also have added to take the herb 'skullcap' just prior to the shrooms - this smoothes things out a lot, especially for those that are nervous about it.

| Not at all Superpain. Many people have reported great success with higher doses as well. It won't hinder the effectiveness, but in most cases it seems that a smaller dose works just as well on CH's as a larger one.

The ice cream was a samll enough amount that I didn't think it would have any impact. If it did, I had medicinal mushrooms in hand. A quick question. I still have some left over tea from that night. Can I store it in the fridge for my second dose?

This is very interesting. I was wondering, as tolerance to the mental effects of mushrooms can develop quite quickly from day to day, even with increased doses, would the same happen with the therapeutic effects of mushrooms for CHs, if taken every day rather than say weekly?

My last CH cycle was about Jan of 03. After reading about the mushroom treatment, I felt I had no other options. My wife got the "medicine" from a college friend who was quite an expert on the subject. I was right in the middle of the cycle with severe night headaches every other night and milder daytime headaches daily. My cycles ate typicly 6 to 10 weeks. I ate the mushrooms on New Year's eve 02/03. I was headache free until May of 04 after only one dose. It was the best New year's eve ever because I was relieved of pain instantly and had a great time. I still don't have the balls to tell my neurologist about this treatment.

| So did you redose in May when they came back? Preventative doses most likely would have stopped them from returning. I haven't had to see my Neuro. in 4 yrs since I started this treatment. With the Harvard study in the near future I wouldn't have any trouble telling any Doctor about this. They need to know!

Hey Flounder, I have since moved to a new state and we lost contact with our connection. I am about 4 weeks into this set and have nowhere to turn. I guess I could go to a PHISH concert. I am in a career field that strongly opposes any sort of drug use. Do mushrooms show up in a UA? I would lose my job. I took them out of despiration 18 months ago and low and behold it worked.
