I can't get enough Imitrex to cover my headaches everyday. The insurance company covers 1 refill 6 mg and 9 pills 100mg. That is 11 headaches or 17 if I have the patients to take apart the in jecter cartridge. Please if anyone can send imitrex to me, please drop me a line. I am very chronic 1 to 3 a day. I prefer the shot over anything else. Give me Imitrex or give me death!

Every situation is different, therefore this may not work for you, but... Try having your NEUROLOGIST write a letter of medical necessity for your insurance company and in that letter specify that you need X number of doses. I use Zomig NS and my insurance company would only authorize 6 sprays a month. I talked with someone at the insurance company (who has no doubt been fired since) who told me that a NEUROLOGIST could write a letter of medical necessity and prescribe as many as he says I need. I now get 30 per month. The catch for them is if they disapprove the meds, they are either denying medication or practicing medicine without a license. If their "On Staff" physician rewrites the script for less, he is in violation of the law, because he never examined you. Try it - it may work. Here are a couple related articles to look at as well: http://headaches.about.com/library/weekly/aa-bc-trip-limits-a.htm http://headaches.about.com/cs/advocacy/a/trip_limits_2.htm Gator

Got O2? Try something besides imitrex, ie. amerge or zomig, you might just find the number of headaches per day decreasing.

Glaxco does have a patient assistance program that will supply up to 10 refills (20 injections per month) but your doctor has to do the paperwork, not you. Give them a try ... they'll kick in the details. Unsolved

My neuro called the ins. company and they allowed more. Good luck and use the the needle and q-tip trick and take only 1/3 or 1/2 of each shot. They will go a lot further. Chris

Or just get vials & syringes instead of autoinjectors if you wish to control your dosage.

Are preventive meds part of your package? You didn't mention them. Check prices in Canada. I can recommend: www.LePharmacy.com . Have used them for 3-yrs and found them ethical and giving good service.
