It's almost like people WANT to have clusters. Huh

The sad part is they have no appreciation for how lucky they are to NOT have them.

I know there are several types of headaches, but clusters are so unique that it seems like if you have them, you'd know it by doing a little research.
When I first started getting CHs several years ago, I didn't know what they were, so I did a web search on headaches and read about clusters being: intensely painful, one-sided, usually around the eye, coming on rapidly, often waking the sufferer from sleep, happening about the same time every night, lasting several weeks and then disappearing, triggered by alcohol and not responding to normal pain relievers. When I read that I thought "God, that must be what I have, that's exactly what I've been experiencing". Seeing a neurologist and having and MRI and other tests done just confirmed it.
I've had tension HAs and they are nothing like clusters and from how others have described migraines to me, they seem real different than clusters too (never had one though).

I got diagnosed the first cycle by my family doc in about '85.
But back then there was'nt the knowledge base there is now, so there really wasn't anything he could do. He had me try about 15 different things which did nothing. Then stadol came out and it provided relief part of the time, but was mostly innefective as well. So I gave up on even seeking treatment till I found this place and got edumacated.
Thank God (and DJ) for ch.com!

Goof info for those that don't understand CH.
NOBODY has to tell me this : "The pain of cluster headache is perhaps the most severe known to humans" ... I already know.  Sad

I don't think it will do any more good here than in the General area.  You're just preaching to the choir.  Hell on the first page is a pretty damn good description of what we go through. You would think by that description people would have a better clue than some of the people that come in here.
