very low doses work

As best I can tell, very low doses of psilocybin have relieved this cycle. Brief history: First onset of the beast was in the late spring of 2001. Classic cluster symptoms, left side, with slow ramp-up. Attacks came a couple weeks apart, then a week apart, then a couple days apart, then every day, then as many as twice a day, and once three times. I’m a relatively mild case, one Kip 7 once a day usually, and only had a Kip 8 maybe twice. Diagnosed in early June. Used water with some success, then dosed with shrooms in late July. Used two small doses (trip level 1.5) a week apart and got about two months relief. When attacks began to return, did the same thing again in late fall for another two months relief. In January 2002, did two stronger doses (trip level 2.5) a week apart. This gave me over two years (25 months) nearly 100 percent pain free - every couple months some little twinges and a few kip 1s or 2’s would appear, then fade after about a week. This time around: In February 2004, the Beast returned. But with a twist. As usual, had the slow ramp-up of twinges and shadows, tender scalp, “cluster zits,” building up for a couple weeks until I was hit with a couple kip 4’s, then maybe a five. But the unusual part: they came back on the right, instead of the left. Then they got stranger. As the shadows ramped up, the damn things rotated around my face and head in a clockwise direction! Kip 2’s and 3’s would start with the pain centered around my right temple, move down behind the right eye, then to the right lower sinuses, then across and down to my left upper jaw, then up behind my left eye, up again to the left forehead, then back across the the right temple; repeat twice a day. But the hard ones, the Kip 4’s would usually settle in on the right, between the eye and temple. I had no real hard attacks, maybe one KIP 5 at the worst, but I was tired of this nonsense, so... Feb. 28, I brewed up some tea. My plan was to use very small doses as abortives, and see if the cumulative doses would overcome the cycle without resorting to heavier doses. The recipe: One gram of dried psilocybe azurenscens. Azurencens has about twice the psilocin/cybin of cubensis - when fresh, half a gram gave me a level 2.5 trip. But I must assume the potnecy to have degraded somewhat after two years plus in the freezer. Chopped up small with a knife, steeped in a cup of near-boiling water for 15 minutes, drained and steeped again in a cup of near-boiling water for 15 minutes. Two steeps combined to make 14 or 15 ounces of tea, cooled and decanted into 8-0z. plastic soda bottles, stored in refrigerator. Dosing: When a particularly hard shadow would come along in the evening, I would sip about 1.5 oz. of tea. Scientifically measured by pouring the tea into a Looney Toons juice glass up to the level of the bottom of Wiley Coyote’s foot. I would take a tiny sip and swish it around my mouth for a minute before swallowing, then repeat until the Wiley glass was empty. The first time I tried it, 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28, a deep hot shadow ramping up to a kip 4 disappeared immediately...as soon as the tea hit my mouth... I have to say it was too soon for the tea to kick in and this could have been coincidence. Another shadow came along at 11:30, and I sipped again, the shadow stabilized, but hung around until I went to sleep. Trip levels from these 1.5 oz. doses are some tiny fraction of 1...barely noticeable, maybe some tiny hints of psychedelia, but never enough to be convinced it was more than my imagination. more...

The diary: Feb. 29 (LEAP DAY!), sipped at 6:30 p.m. and saw the shadow fade after about 10 minutes. Sipped again at midnight, some relief, went to bed. March 1, a better day, shadows somewhat reduced. Sipped at 10:30 p.m. but got no relief from a mild kip 2 shadow. March 2, shadows milder, but still rotating, and stretched out so they are pretty much continuous. Sip at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Seems to help. March 3, shadows greatly reduced. Don’t get a shadow big enough to spend a dose on. March 4, another good day, but decide to sip anyway for consistancy’s sake, at 8 p.m. On the 5th, a little bit of a ramp up again, so sip at 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Shadows fade again. Sip once each on the 6th and 7th to finish off the tea. March 8 - 12, shadows reduced, those that do appear seem to stabilize on the left instead of rotating around my face. On the 11th and 12th, shadows start ramping up again. March 13. Brew up another batch of tea, same as the first. Sip once a day on the 13th through 15th. Shadow stabilize, but don’t go away. March 17. Woke up early with a nasty shadow, decided I was sick of the shadows, called off sick from work and sipped a larger dose - actually three Wiley Coyote feet, maybe 4.5 to 5 oz., over a one hour period. This time I could confirm some mild psychedelic effects. Spent the morning grinning and yawning. Probably could have faked my way through work, but I stayed home and loafed anyway. Attended a meeting that night with no problem. March 19 to 21. Shadows fade again, but not completely, again. March 22. Shadows mild but still there. sip 1.5 oz. March 23 to present. Shadows persist. Still some tea left, but it has turned cloudy and I throw it away. Shadows still linger but fade slowly over the next week. Rotation has stopped, all shadows center on the left side. A few hard shadows in the first week of April and I considered brewing another batch of tea, but the shadows fade before I get around to it. The shadows continue to fade over the next few weeks. Last week, April 18 to 24, only two shadows worth mentioning. Scalp soreness and cluster zits gradually fading. Life is good. We’ll see how long it lasts. Conclusion. I think it worked, but not absolutely sure. It could have been that the beast never intended to come back in full force and would have faded away on its own, as it has before. But went it did the ramp-up-then-fade-aawy trick before, it never reached the Kip 4 to nearly 5 like it did this year. I wish I could have been more patient, stuck to the 1.5 oz. sips and not done the larger dose to see if the very small doses would have worked. But, shit, Science Be Damned, I’ mostly pain-free, and something did the trick. Maybe that little extra jolt was needed to send the beast packing. The small doses seemed sometimes to act as an abortive, but not always. Twice they stopped a Kip 4 dead in its tracks. They seemed to work less well on shadows sometimes stopping them sometimes not. since shadows for me come and go unpredictbly, it's hard to say for sure. From my recent experience, and reviewing over 100 treatment reports, I am coming to the opinion that in some cases repeated dosing might not be as necessary as we think. After a few doses, the beast will slowly fade away if just given time... and the patience to wait out the setbacks... easy to say, but hard to do when getting hit... I don’t mind the shroom trip too much myself...though it would hardly be my recreational drug of choice...I find it the mild trips tedious, and aggravating when they go on too long. But my position is that the treatment will be more available to more folks, better tolerated and more likely to be used, if the psychoactive effects can be held to a minimum. I am more and more hopeful this can work without really tripping at all. One last word: FUCKENEH! -tommyD

That's excellent...Man I wish I could use this recipe on my next cycle but alas...I have a family and am very paranoid when it comes to possessing this stuff. They've gotta get off their arses & compound this stuff to a legal script for Cluster sufferers. Jimmy
