Topamax new S/E

Ok, we've all discussed Topamax making fingers and toes tingle, and how it makes soft drinks taste bad for some but not for others and also the possibility of developing stones. I've been on Topa for two weeks now (stepping up 25mg a week til I hit 100mg per my Neuro) and have found a new and disconcerting s/e I'd like to ask all the guys about. Now I'll never claim to be a sexual god, but in the stamina department I could at least last long enough to leave my girlfriend happy and very satisfied. Now, since being on the Topa, it's like I have a hair-trigger (no pun intended)! Has anyone else noticed this problem? I have another Neuro appointment in a few weeks and plan to mention it to him then, but thought I'd bring it up here and see if anyone has heard anything. To say the least, it's annoying as hell. Nothing compared to the all-encompassing pain of the beast, but still...

NewSufferrer, I am not sure what you mean about Hair-trigger. I am no sexual god meself. What do you mean? Certainly Topamax and most every other pyschotropic medicine has sexual side-effects. Just be happy you can do something. Try taking Zoloft. On Zoloft Brittney Spears could dance naked at the foot of your bed and you would ask her to sit down so you could try to sleep. -Scott

Can't say that I sufferend any SE's like that! But certainly possible it could in some, I suppose. Might also just be a coincidence-don't jump to conclusions until you have multiple samples in your "dataset"...for some of married guys that could take 6 months or so!

| Well, being single with a girlfriend I do have a few "samples" already (at least enough for concern), but understand what you mean. And I also know that any new med is bound to have sexual s/e's and this one isn't as bad as some that could occur. However, in the interest of the science of CH, I wanted to present all the facts.

Well, if you've had the experience a few times certainly talk to the Dr about it. I don;t remeber reading anything about that with Topamax, but I might have skipped that part! Sometimes meds will give SE's that are unexpected. I once tried a BP med that gave me HA's comparable in pain to CH...and suffered for about a month because the Dr didn't feel that HA's were a likely SE of the med. I had to do my own experiment to prove that was the issue...Topa really doesn;t afford that option since you should not be (IMO) going on/off it with such frequency...

FYI It may be overkill but I, being an older dude, I have experimented with the new ED drug Cialis, for me anyway I found the ability to continue for quite a while when needed. Good luck, got to keep them laidies happy. Lee
