Topamax Questions

I am an episodic sufferer of 17 years. My cycles keep increasing in length, but have never been longer than 11 weeks. This one is now going on 16 weeks and I fear is turning chronic (any feedback on that would be appreciated).
I am trying Topamax again. Over the past few weeks I have tapered up to 100mg/day and have been there for one week, but doesn't seem to be helping.
My questions are: 1) if you have had results, at what dose and after how long? 2) if I decide to give up on it do I need to taper off?
Thanks in advance for your feedback and as always I appreciate this site being here when I need it!

Please see my recent posting in the Medication Board.
It worked for me within a week (at 100 mg). It worked for ME. We are all different though. What works for some, does not work for others, and Topamax certainly gets mixed results. Some people are VERY intolerable to this medication due to the side-effects. I have now gone 5 PF days.

Welcome to the message board-sorry you have CH! Can't help you on the topamax question sorry. Re the other part of your post have you had bigger gaps between cycles over the years or have they stayed the same or got shorter? Some people have longer gaps as they get older but then get longer cycles when they arrive. [There's no such thing as a free lunch]

I did read your post and it was encouraging to hear that it is working at 100mg/day after only one week and now to hear that you've been PF for 5 days - awesome!

My cycles have stayed pretty consistently 1.5 - 2 years apart. The last one being just over 2 years before this one started.
What has steadily changed over the years is the length of the cycles has increased from 3 weeks to 11 weeks (except the current one) and the frequency of headaches have gone from 1/day or every other day and only at night to 1-4/day at any time.
I guess I wouldn't mind trading longer gaps for longer cycles as long as I know there is an end in sight.
My biggest fear since I started reading this board years ago was that I would go from episodic to chronic.
