I bought an inversion table yesterday; the kind that allows you to hang upside down by your ankles. Having had a low/medium cluster that has persisted all evening, I decided to try the inversion table and see if the increased blood flow would help matters any. It made no difference, and in fact, may have made it worse. Ouch..

There is no way I'd be upside down during an attack. I always want my head at the highest it can get. Sleeping setting UP, pacing just as tall as possible and my head held HIGH, sitting and rocking with my back straight and head UP. No laying down, bending down or upside down for me. Glad you tried it. We all have tried some unusual things. Sorry it didn't work for you.

When your CH cycle is over you might find this thing helps your back if you have back trouble. I tried one once and it did give relief for a bad disk. Bill

Jeepgun, did you try the opposite? Maybe if you stayed constantly inverted, when you get attacked you can go right-side-up and kill the headache by reducing the blood flow.

No, it's not a headache--it's a Stage Ten Primary Chronic Periodic Idiopathic Trigeminovascular Cephalalgic Crisis.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keeping the head elevated and/or restricting bloodflow to the brain may very well be the ticket, which may be why nicotine and caffeine seem to work well for many people. While I don't have back problems, I do love hanging upside down after a session of weightlifting. It sends all the blood and all the nutrients and all the oxygen to the muscles that I've worked, and it feels fabulous. Inversion is supposed to be wonderful for your organs, circulatory, and lymphatic systems, as well.
