Imitrex side effects - anyone?

Has anyone experiences any unusual side effects lately to Imitrex injections? I have been an Imitrex injector for about 2 years now. Changed my life. Instant relief within 4 to 5 minutes. No side effects. I recently bought another 4 vials and this is what happened with 2 of them. The needle hurt like hell I got a lump the size of a golf ball at point of injection which lasted about 18 hours. The headache went away within 1 minute. Within this time though, the pain severity of the headache instantly doubled. My neck face and ears were burning up quite severely for about 20 minutes. I had a broken toe at the time which was not hurting until I had the injection. At this point in time, the pain localised in my big toe for about 5 minutes. I took the remaining 2 vials back to pharmacist. Glaxo replaced them with 4 vials. Glaxo are in process of testing remaining 2 vials. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Perhaps they forgot to dilute the stuff!!!!! Gills

The .5ml vials have been lovey dovey for me... nothing bad. Been getting away with 4x .14ml doses per vial with 100% relief lately. The 50mg tablets have been like Pez though. They should at least come with a little fireman dispenser. Wrokk

Wow - I've had some injection site swelling but nothing that bad. Is this the auto-injector? Gotta lose that crazy piece of crap and just get a needle and syringe and some 6mg vials.

Toader It is the pen auto injector but that was not the problem. It was the stuff in the vial. Anyone experienced the burning? Gills

Imitrex injections are god's gift to clusterheads. Unfortunately the cost precludes a lot of people from getting instant relief. If you can afford it, forget everything else. In Australia it is about A$65 for each shot (ouch) Gills

I have never had any reaction/ allergic reactions like some described above. I am sorry that some people get this, because for me and so many, it seems, it is the best abortive. It is the best..... -Freddy
