Quote: Here is my question. Does a seizure correlate to "head trauma"? |
| To a degree. Brain injury can lead to siezures. A friend of mine started having epilepsy shortly after falling out of a moving pickup truck and hitting his head. I tried something like the mind machine you mention - no extreme side effects, no real change in conciousness that I could detect. On the other hand, blinking fluorescent lights or a cheap flickering monitor drive me up the wall. Shopping malls also sometimes affect me that way. Head injury is also correlated with depression later in life. Head injury could be a factor that predisposes someone to clusters, but this hasn't been well studied, and not sure what can be done after the injury is already done.

I too tried that machine years ago and it was called the "Mind Machine. " Supposedly helped adjust circadian rhythms and transfer from one level of conciousness (alpha) to others. I imagine that if you've already got an underlying neurological disorder this would be a very effective trigger. Just like alcohol and CCH! Lucky us

| I have'nt ever had a seizure but I have experienced three concussions. The first when I was 9yrs old, the second when I was 17, and the third when I was 20. I started getting clusters a few months before my 21st birthday (although I did not know they were clusters at the time). I mentioned this to my first neuro after I was "officially" diagnosed with CH and she said that it had no correlation . Has anyone else experienced head trauma/concussions and then later CH? Thorns

I had 2 head injuries as a child. The worst one was never treated because my parents were faith healers. My mother said I had a seizure. I was in my late teens when I first started having CH.
