Went to a Neuro yesterday. He pretty much felt it was CH as well. I sound like Huey Lewis now.."I got a new drug!". Depakote is the name..1 a day extended release 150mg....then in 5 days...2 a day.....few hours before bed. Last nite was the first dose.Between O2 and that no head last nite. Anyone have any experience or some quick knowledge right off the bat for me? Gonna start some researching on it tho. Thanks.. Luke

I was on Depakote my last cycle, only I had to have the neuro halve the dosage from 500mg ER to 250mg ER because I was feeling like my brain was crackling and popping. Anyhow, it did reduce the amount of attacks I had, but not the severity. Hopefully you'll have good luck on it! Here is some info. about Depakote aka Divalproex sodium: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/dival.htm mel

I took Depakote for a good little while. Worked my way up to 1750mg / day . It didn't stop my attacks. I used it in combination w/ Topomax. All I got was tremors, memory loss, and kidney stones (probably all from the Topo) ! Hope you have better luck ! Unsolved

My neuro put me on Depakote yesterday and I had my first dosage last night at dinnertime. I ended up getting a very very mild CH around 8:30, but it was greatly reduced in duration and intensity. The rest of the night and today have been pain-free, and I couldn't be happier. I'm on 500mg/day. I hope I continue experiencing good results with this stuff...

Depakote worked like a charm on my last cycle, but doesn't seem to be doing a lot for this one... though I'm hoping the Beast is fading now, or at least taking a break. The last couple days haven't been as bad. Joe

Oh, and by the way, my neuro couldn't stress enough to take it at the exact same time everyday. It wouldn't work for me unless I did that! toodles! mel

I take it roughly at the same time each day. Now that I'm back in the gym and training, my meals are also on a very regular schedule. I'm eating every three hours, so 6:00 p.m. is when I take it. Still pain-free and still keeping my fingers crossed... (If I'm pain-free though, how will I know when this cycle has ended?) -Frank

I have a call to my neuro. I really dont think its working at all.Since sunday...i have had like 4 a night and getting more severe as they come. this has never happened in all these years...the 3 and 4 a night shit...and they are wearin me down. Last night i basically didnt sleep since about12:30am...ran out of O2...finally took an Imitrex. I dont know what to do...it's like im goin downhill again. Hope the neuro can help.

Damn, Luke.... *hugs and pf-vibes* That sucks. After reading everyone else's accounts, I guess I should consider myself very lucky. It is now Day 2 of being pain-free. Two nights of uninterrupted sleep, and two days of freedom from the Demon. I feel nothing but a very humble gratitude at the moment.... Luke, I dearly hope you gain some relief soon. Please hang in there.

Luke buddy, BIG PF hugs to ya man. I've been getting hit more again the last 2 days too, finally got thru to my doc. I ran out of O2 last night too, but this morning they delivered THREE tanks! Plus I finally got my hands on a nonrebreather mask. Also my doc sent in a scipt for Verapamil and Frova. Gotta see what the insurance will cover though... I think the Frova won't be covered. Anyhoo, hope you have a better day today and get some PF sleep tonight. Joe

LOL Luke, how funny! Actually I wasn't home when he made the delivery. My former employer called me in to help them with some computer problems, so being a nice guy, I went. It was wonderful to come home to all that O2 on my porch though!

I'm seeing my neurologist tomorrow if I can get in to be seen, and demanding Imitrex injectable or nasal spray, and a high-flow regulator and an O2 tank. Depakote has been a dismal failure. The past two nights have been truly the rock concert from Hell happening behind my right eye... (With several encores!) Luke, thank you for being there for me, buddy. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. If ever you need anything, please don't hesitate to pick up the phone and call. *hugs*
