ONE pain at a time...try this...it cant hurt?!

I have a theory that your mind can only focus on one pain sensation at a time. Try this. Have someone pinch you hard in random places on your body...such as your toes. Off and on pinching rather quickly...don't let it linger or your mind will "figure it out." You can also try doing this yourself by pinching yourself on your own hand...but it seems better if someone else does it.
If this works for anyone else, then maybe we need a mild, random shock generator pad to do the same thing.
Let me know...I am curious if this provides any sort of relief. I know it is not a cure, but instead a way to help through the time of the pain.

I think that is why excessive ice packing and too-hot-water tend to kinda-work.
When I keep an ice-pack on to the point where it hurts like an SOB, it gives the impression that my HA is doing better. Same thing when I apply near-scalding water to my skull.
Next I plan to have a Swedish supermodel with rough feet walk up and down my back. Will let you know how that turns out.

I think that is part of the theory on why CH sufferers are prone to banging their heads and similar actions a lot of people don't understand...the idea being that 2 pain receptors firing next to each other sort of "cancel" their signals...
I think that's sort of the idea you're all getting at...  I believe I might have read it somewher on this site...

Exactly, and if you've looked at the archives at all, you did read that on this site, some people use shoes, phone recievers anything to bang the side of their heads while the beast is having it's way with them.

One of the first times that I got hit while on the road (taking my kids home after work) I was punching myself in the leg to keep myself focused so that I could continue to drive. Of course I got yelled at by everyone on the board when I told them about it the next day. (And rightly so, I should have figured some other way) But you dont pull over at night in on a Vegas Freeway unless you absolutly have to. But I had a buise the size of a softball on my leg for about a week after that.
