if your cycle/bout is longer than 1month than the high doses of steroids have worse effects than the headaches.........my research shows no typical cluster headache treatments that i can take safely for 3month cycle so working on my own treatment email me if want to discuss further max maxharlow@earthlink.net PS: currently in a bout for last 2 months and my dr's treatment/suggestion have done wonders at least for day time headpain and loss of work

The prednisone is usually only given as a taper until a less agressive preventative (usually Verapamil) kicks in. Vera takes some days to start up, and can be upped in dose very gently. Try and read about Vera under the buttonson the right and search the archives, then go to your doc and ask.
