Question: how long do your headaches usually last? Mine usually last about 30 min (sometimes longer) if I don't take anything to try to stop them.
Breathing pure oxygen works for some people (it didn't help me).....sure worth a try if you haven't tried it.

flavin - Take the cluster quiz on the left and see a doctor who know about headaches(if you haven't already).....cluster headaches are usually short lived, intensely painful, they feel like someone is stabbing you in the back of your eye with a hot ice pick, they come on very fast, usually strike around the same time every night (or day) and will last for a period of weeks or months and then be gone for several months until they return. Not everyone has the same symptoms and some people have characteristics of tension, migraine and cluster headaches combined. Good luck.

i have taken the quiz and everything checks out and all arrows lead to CH. I am going to the Dr's on Mon. I have not had INS due to change in Jobs, So I am waiting for that to Kick in.  The last one had a KIP of about 9 for the first 2 hours then went to an 3 or 4 for the rest of the time.  I have been to the Dr. for these before and have tried alot of meds. some helped some didnt. Then the last few have been very severe and what worked before is not working now.  I just found this site and I am reading as much as i can about this beast. I am trying different things that the Kind people on here have said worked for them.  I will talk to my DR. when i go on Monday about preventatives and abortives and hopefuly I can find a combo  that works for me.  Trust me i know what the stabing ice pick feels like. I want to yank my eyeballs out of my head pull all my teeth out, rip all my hair out when this monster is present.  I have been diagnosed along time ago with CH but the DR's that i have seen in the last 7 years didnt know what they were and I never gave any thought to it  i just dealt with the pain on my own.  I will be very persistant with the Dr. when i see him on Monday.  If he cant help I will move on to the next.
