I have been given Prednisone and Lithium to stop my chronic cycle.  It seems to be working for I have been  PF for four days and nights.  I was warned that this cause my diabetes to be out of control.  I am on a very strick diet and it has been working some what.  Just wondered if any one else out there has had this problem being a dibetic.  I can not take Imitrex or triptans do to heart ptoblems.

Thanks

Steroids are known to raise blood sugar in many people.  When I was in the hospital, I was put on steroids, and along with that came insulin injections every few hours for me!  I'm not a diabetic...in fact my blood sugar is usually around 70, but my blood sugar was quite a ways over 200 on the steroids.  Just make sure you check your blood pressure quite often!  Are you on a prednisone taper or a steady dose of prednisone for awhile?  Please be careful!

Thanks Lizzie.

I'm on a ten day taper starting at 60 mg a day.  I put myself on a very strict diet for I was told that I should expect blood suger counts above 300.  I'm not close to that yet but my blood pressure is getting some what higher.

Thanks for your info

I'm glad it is just short term for you!!  Hopefully in that short of a time period it won't shoot your sugars up too high!  A headache med is no good if it harms your body in life-threatening ways!  I really hope that it helps you get some quality pain free time!  Best of luck!
