Balls of Steel

Or maybe just outta my head but either way I'm swinging free. Have been eating abortives like candy and spent the last 3 days with seriously uncomfortable heart palpitations so I've decided to not take anything, including preventatives.

So far it has been mildly successful and while I still do have some palps they've been less worrisome. H/A have reduced to extra long k4's (sometimes 3 hours) but an equitable trade from the normal k8 45 minutes. I can also sleep w/o being awakened but will start an attack the second I open my eyes in the AM.

Will continue on this course unless I have a heart attack. I've instructed the dogs not to call EMS and that I've provided for them in the will.

Additionally this will be an all out detox leading up to the shrooms which should be ready in about 3 weeks. Godspeed, eh?

It's not easy getting off all the meds but well worth it when the shrooms kick ass on the beast. Best of luck to you and we will all be here pulling for you.

Keep the O2 handy and full.
Keep the dogs handy too - they're great sitters.

Good luck with the shrooms, hope it does it's thing for you.  Try to get the 02 as soon as possible, three weeks is a long time without meds.  That's how long I've been med free, and it's the only thing that has helped me keep my sanity.

Sorry you're having to go med free, but, in the end, it's the best thing.  I'm dosing tonight, at this point I don't care what the doctors say.  Hope we both get lucky..... Smiley

Good luck Notseinfeld, I hope you have better luck this time around.  Keep us updated.  I'll be watching with interest since the results of my last go round were 'inconclusive'.

Rock on

Saw Dr.Compassion (not) today and he actually went to bat for me to get the Oxygen Tank covered by my insurance which is on the way to my door as I type this.

So far it has been about 5 days on NO meds of any kind and the results are as follows:

Frequency: The Same
Pain : 50% reduction hovering at k4-k5
Duration: 50% increase in battle time
Verdict: I'll take it. Starting to feel like my old self again in the times I'm not actually suffering with a h/a. BP is back to normal, my MRI came out fine, and got a little bounce in my step that has been missing for nearly 5 years.

Added bonus: On the way out the door today I asked the doc hypothetically that if he were a doctor, knowing what he knows now and living c.1800 and was presented with 2 chronic cluster sufferers in his village, how would go about treating them?

Without missing a beat he responded "well there were no lawyers then so I'd take a big rock and pound it over both their heads and get them out of my misery!"

Had to laugh at the probably accurate response but what puzzled me was the last part stating out of my misery. Hmmm, your misery? It was not a misspeak by any means but a straight from the gut utterance.

Further, my take on my (our) condition is that we as a group are unable to take a passive interest in our condition since in most cases it has devastated our lives. As a result, not only are we not passive but instead hyper-vigilant about the treatment. I for one know I'm a doctor's worst nightmare patient. And that's just tough.
