DHE drip--i passed on it!!

anyone here done this....neuro i see at Duke in chapel hill, wanted me to do a few time of DHE drip if the FROVA didnt work for me, over all it did pretty well, so I opted not to go in for the outpatient drip, i think he wanted me to do 2 days worth. he said in some of his
CH'ers ( few as they are) it has ended their cycle. geez, i sound like my wife, i now have a cycle...i think she wished a cycle on me somewhere in the delivery room, bet she didnt bank on this type of cycle..J/k she's great moral support even if it is 2 am when she offers it, when I'de rather be left the hell alone..ok, again DHE experience, please let me know what the deal with this treatment!!

Did it in Sep03 - worked great. The previous abortives had stopped being effective (O2 and Maxalt). Three really great days pain free. Then, 36 hours after I was released from the horsepital, I suffered through a week of debilitating rebounds, as if the beast had become pissed that I chased him away for so long.
After that week and a couple of weeks on Amerge along with my regular preventatives (Verapamil and Lithium), my cycle was broken and has not (knock on wood) returned.
If everything else has stopped working and you have good insurance that'll pay for the 3-day hospital stay, I'd say go for it.

Do it all the time. Works everytime to (temporarly) prevent the pain. Once out of the hospital, the headaches return within 72 hours. It's still a break from the norm. If your getting hit alot and you need a break from the pain, DHE is worth a try. Make sure you ask for some Phenegren before taking it. Don't mix w/ Frova or Imitrex.

Did it a few cycles back, broke the cycle...... was f*ckin' awesome.

Did a 2 day inpatient drip 3 years ago to break the worst cycle of my life. I have beencycle free ever since.
