Hi Dodie,

You may want to check the message archives.  We've had dozens of discussions on the topic.

I don't know of anyone who has gotten relief from their clusters with accupuncture.  I've tried it several times....no luck.

I am now trying. Ihave suffered since 1988 and tired everything with bits of reduction here and there, but no stoping almost nightly bouts.

Started acupunture 19 Jan. and had four daily sessions with reduced intensity 2 nights and no CH 2 nights. had further five daily sessions starting 24 Jan.and stopped because acupunturist went on holiday.

I have had no CH since 24 Jan. I still believe this is likely to be coincidence, but hope springs eternal!

As for cost I bought 15 needles @US$1.33 each, paid $2.66 for the initial consultation and $1.33 for each session since. The cost is cheap here inLangkawi Malaysia so who can fail to give it a go Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin

Hey dodie,

I had a horrid cluster cycle over xmas and into January.  My wife had to take 5 weeks off of work to take care of me.  She would do acupuncture on me several times a day every time I had a really bad attack.  I don't know how much it really helped, but I think it sometimes really did the trick.  Of course we had the oxygen and imitrex as well, but I was getting hit every 2-3 hours so it was just crazy and sometimes the needles were our first option.

There is a line between the thumb and index finger in your hand that an acupuncturist can show you that you use to put the needle in.  The needles we got are cheap - a box of 100 for $10.  So I don't know what you got to lose.  They don't hurt (really).   Grin

Of course, you should go see a real acupuncturist first before trying this at home kids! - someone you trust from a referal.  Don't just open the phone book.

I still go see an acupuncturist but not for treatment of pain per se but as part of an overall wellness plan.

Would be a good idea for you to track down and get in touch with one just in case you have the need sometime in the future.
