varapimal 80 mg?

I just started Varapimal 80 mg on the 4th of this month. I am a drug scared person and I am unsure about going higher than 80 mg. My nuro said to start with one and tapper up the dose until it was right for me. Well, one works just fine and I am also tappering down on my predisone Rx. I have had only a cupple of morning wake ups and getting up and moving around helps. Also a good strong cup of coffee. I did have a real bad one the other night. I had to take a maxalt 10 mg. Took 45 min's to subside. At least I am not still having 3 and 4 a day every day. I guess time can only tell right now. Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions...

I can't imagine 80mg of Verap doing much for you. If it works, that's great. I know most people here have to go above 240 mg before they start seeing any difference. I didn't know that Verap even came as low as 80mg. I'm tapering down right now with some 120mg pills and those are pretty small as it is. When I was tapering up to 480, I think I did about a month on each dosage before I increased. So I started at 180, went to 240, 360, then 480. Good luck.

| Ditto. 240 helped me some, 480 a lot more.

If you had relief while on pred and verap, I'd say the PF was caused by pred. As previously stated, 80mg is not much, and you will probably find out very soon (the hard way) that the pred was doing it if you are almost done with the taper. If you are having breakthrough HAs while on pred and verap, you are most likely in for a rough ride at that dosage. Chris

Well... prednisone is heavier on the system than Verapamil. I;d take vera any time. If you have 80 mg pills you are lucky, you can start upping the dose in small increments. I strongly advise you to start now - even your doc tells you to - necause it takles Verapamil some 5-8 days to really kick in. Sames goes for larger doses. Good luck

Thanks! OK OK OK I get the picture.K I just hate taking so many drugs. But I will taper up today to at least 180 and maybe more. I did have a painful night last night 2/11/04. I never got up and took a abortive med though. Nuro did tell me to slowly go to higher doses ant least 3 a day. So it looks like I will have to if i want to beat the beast. . Thanks for all your help. I am a drug woosie I guess. . Happy Valentines to evryone!

Pokemon, if you don't mind, what's your weight? I'm a 220lb male of pretty large stature - it takes 600mg to do anything for me. I'd bank you're quite a bit smaller plus, since you're female, you'd have a slightly smaller heart more than likely. Your neuro gives good advice.
