Hello All, I am wondering what people are doing to ease the pain during the CH attacks without using any medications or OXYGEN TANKS. Anny suggestions?

Hi Ronniek I use ice packs on my eye and neck area. Not really packs...but wash cloths with icy cold water. It seems to soothe a little bit. Some people here use heat....just depends on what works. You might read the thread about melatonin. It's really difficult to deal with CH without ANY meds. Hope you find what works for you. Let us know how you are doing. pf vibes, Jean

Ronnie, a great number of our own home measures were collected by Margi on the cluster resources - natural treatments page.

Go outside in the cold and run around in the snow barefoot. Sit in front of the air conditioner and take deep breaths. Take a hot or cold shower. (Please careful not to burn yourself.) Apply heat or cold to your head. Hold your head in a sink full of ice and water. Coffe helps, too But strictly speaking, caffeine's a drug. You might try lidocaine up the nose. (Yes, it's a medication, but it's topical if that makes any difference.) If you don't like O2 tanks buy a super-duper concentrator. Good luck figuring this out!

RonnieK, WHY is it that you can't or don't choose to use oxygen or medication or are you just looking for something in addition to meds? I don't think anyone asked you that.

This was my first year with proper meds. I will never go back as long as I have access to them. Before I knew I was'nt THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD with these things, I would take a hot shower with ice on my neck(bag of frozen peas or something like that) and point the shower at my torso?(my spelling sucks)and spin around slowly and stomp my feet. But I don't have to do that(as much)now. I have access to o2,verapamil,and Imetrex. How bout you??
