Mushroom advice needed

hi guys, Im an episodic (have been for15 yrs) and on monday night tried some shrooms in the hope of averting my yearly cluster that is due to start any day. Didnt do masses of them, ended up with fits of giggles for a while and some great psycadelic forms when i closed my eyes but that was about it. Since then ive had noticable shadows in the afternoons, Ive not tried any alcohol to see if it will bring on an attack yet though. (cant bring myself to do it yet) My real question is do you guys think I need to dose again? Did i not do enough or perhaps too much? or is this the beasts last gasp perhaps? Many thanks in advance! Neil

Neil, Have you not had a CH since your last cycle? When did it end? Were you having shadows in the afternoon before you did the dose? Sounds like you did enough. The effects you described are about what you want to achieve for this treatment. Sometimes after a dose you will get shadows or even hit, some get hit harder for a couple days but then it dies down. I would wait and see how things go at least until Sat. If alcohol is a trigger for you I wouldn't drink if you continue to have shadows. Do you know how many grams you took? Good luck!! And let us know what happens.

Hi Neilr, My off-the-cuff advice: Sit tight and wait to see what happens. It sounds like you did a proper amount. Re-evaluate your situation once Monday rolls around again. Stay way the hell far away from alcohol. Don't even go there yet. --- Steve

To echo what has been said....wait and see....do not drink...yet. You should know in a few days if you need to dose again. The amount you did sounds pretty close too so hang on and wait to see if you knocked the beast back into his hole. Good luck. PFDAN's Mark

I won't be repeating all others, because it would sound the same. Just sending good thoughts your way. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Only had two minor shadows before doing the shrooms, both of them a week- 10 days before hand. It felt like a warning to me that the beast was knocking on my door hence dosing on monday (as soon as i could get hold of some). Ive got some growing now just in case! The funny thing is, on the monday noght after dosing, my head (and sinuses for that matter) felt clearer than they have in years. I'll keep you guys posted though! cheers, Neil

Guys, thought id update you on the shroom treatment, apologies if its abit long winded. The shadows didnt stop all week although never got above a kip 2, just that they were present, so, I dosed again on Sunday morning (the last dose being the previous monday). I didnt really measure it too well and took a little too much and ended up with minor 'visual abnormalities' and LOTS of uncontrollable giggling, but it wasnt unpleasent at all. Almost straight away the shadows got a bit worse, coming and going more frewquently, then died down about after 4 or 5 hours. At this point i thought i'd screwed it all up and made it worse. However, a friend of mine was having an xmas party that id plannned to go to so i went along anyway. As soon as i got threw the door there was a glass of wine thrust into my hand, needless to say I was pretty aprehensive about drinking it as usually it takes less that a glass of wine to induce the beast for me. However, In for a penny i thought and decided to see what if any difference the shrooms had made. Well, nothing happened, nothing at all so i had a few more glasses (i was feeling a little braver by then) still nothing, no shadow today at all. I'm still on my guard though. BUT, the fact the alcohol triggered nothing is a good sign....... i';ll report back soon to let you all know how its going. 'till then, season greetings all! neil

Thanks for the update Neil. Sounds pretty typical...the shadow increase for a while after the dose. I don't think you over did the dose. Sounds like your system was clear enough for a good "reception" so to speak. Hope you have a great Holiday!! PF

| I wouldn't say that was too much. Sounds just about perfect to me. That's just about exactly the effects I aim for when I dose. | This is exactly what happened to me right after my last dose. It had been about thirteen months since my last cycle had been ended by shrooms, and I had had a few weeks of unmistakable signs that a new cycle was starting. I dosed, and immediately the signs got worse. I was sure I would require a second dose, but things gradually settled down day by day over the next week. By the tenth day it was as if I'd never had a cluster headache in my life. You may still require a second dose, but my advice would be to wait a few days to see what develops.

Hope you all had a good (and PF) christmas! OK, its been 9 days since my second dose of shrooms (as reported earlier in this thread). Still a few shadows but only once did I think it was going to get serious (and that was a couple of days after dosing) since then just the odd Kip 1 or2. If theyre still happening by the weekend I may dose again but I'll see how I feel and keep my fingers crossed! Neil

You will probably end up with a phantom episode - this is not uncommon among cluster busters. All it means is that you'll have most of the minor symtoms of a CH episode but none of the major ones. So faryou've gone 2 weeks with shadows that haven't gotten any worse, so thing are likely to remain that way until the natural expiry date of the episode. Have you taken more alcohol since then? Alcohol tolerance is the chief symptom of a phantom episode. During my phamtom episodes I have been able to drink entire bottles of strong red wine, and get a kip 2 at worst... much better than a trip to ER and 2 days of uncomprehendable pain. If you begin to experience real pain, as opposed to slightly uncomfortable stuffiness then go ahead and take some more. Otherwise leave it at that. Some people mistakenly believe that cluster busters will remove ALL their symptoms, but this is SELDOM the case. Those people continue dosing every time they get a shadow... don't be suckered into that regime, there's nothing to be gained from it. Flash
