I've seen very little reference to Vitamin B on this site or elsewhere for CH treatment and wonder if anyone else has had success. Started my CH in '72, cycles mostly every 6-9 months abt 4 weeks long and were 2-3 times a day, often at night. I did try Fiorinal many years ago and that didn't abort the CH, just made me feel doopey after. I was a flight nurse for several years and had CH whenever we reached altitude in cycle (that little green bottle was a real life saver but the pilots always wondered about me :-). Didn't try anything else other than avoiding alcohol, getting the right sleep, hyperventilating when the CH started aspirin for the shadow headache. In 1999 I stopped drinking coffee and started taking a B50 complex once a day based on a study I read at the time (sorry don't remember the reference). Gradually over the past few years, the intensity and frequency of CH have dramatically decreased but the cycle is a bit longer abt 5-6 weeks. Rarely have any more night CH's. Hard to say if the B50 is the real deal but it's cheap and other than making your pee yellow, no real side effects compared to some of the other top shelf drugs/treatments. I've haven't missed a day of B50 except on rare occassions since '99. Just thought I'd pass that along to the group. John

Vitamin B-2, 400mg/day, has also appeared in the medical literature as a possible preventive treatment: evidence is anecdotal so far but favorable. Since I first posted this line 2-3 years ago, I have not seen any further references to it.

The B-vitamins are important for a lot of things, including converting tryptophan to serotonin, handling choline, synthesis of myelin in nerves, etc, etc. I have found that a strong multi-B prevents aura, but my aura doesn't develop into migraine - it is mostly a minor annoyance. So I haven't stuck with a strong B supplement. Maybe the aura is a symptom of something deeper.

I don't know about B 6, but here's about B 12: So-called triple theraphy, vitamin riboflavin (vitamin B2), magnesium and herb feverfew are used to abort headaches. In America one can get these in one supplement called Micra-Lieve. There's more info about it at: www.naturalhealthmed.com

My CH term is a month and half. When I was in middle of the term of CH, I started to take Vitamin B2 400mg/day and Lomerizine hydrochloride, my real CH is almost stoped. Once per 3day, very minimum CH comes but It is not headacke, but sensation. I didn't need any medicine. I think Vitamin B2 400mg works for me. Or I should say Vitamin B2 and Lomerizine hydrochloride works for me?
