I read yesterday from a Finnish cluster website that some of my native clusterheads have found cure to painful ch attacks via eating ice cream right after the attack started. I don't know if it works for all, but hey, I'm certainly up for this experiment! Hope this helps one of us, best wishes & PFdays, sandie99

I'll tell you what, it sounds retarded, but i think it may work (well for some). yesterday i had a nasty ha on my way home from base and i stopped at the 7-11 and got some ice cold iced tea. right when i sat in my car i started chugging the heck outta the can and as it began burning the back of my throat, i noticed the pain subsiding in my temple. but 5 seconds after i stopped drinking the pain came back. so i ran back in and got 6 of these teas and just sat there in the parking lot chugging them until finally there was no more headache haha people musta thought i was loo-loo. but theres no telling if it worked or not, but i have some in a cooler here at my desk at work just in case!!! i do not think it is the ice cream, i think it is the cold...for some odd reason...its soothing.

I have heard about people getting into a hot bath with a ice pack on the head to draw blood toward the heart. I tried it once and it did'nt work but I've heard it works for some. I don't know, same idea?? Either way can't hurt. I love ice cream. ...Mark..

| Hi, Armstrong. You might want to check out the local 12 step program for caffeinaholics. Seriously, though, 6 teas at once can do a number on your heart and kidneys. But I believe you about the cold aborting the ha; others have said the same.

I find that ice cream can cause a temporary pain diversion. Eat it fast for a brain freeze and it temp. swaps the pain from cluster to freeze pain. Then there's a few seconds of peace during the time you recover from the freeze. Not great but something to keep you occupied until the h/a subsides.

I think I should try the ice cream thing. But it is so hard to eat or drink anything when I am having one. But a milkshake might make me happy!

Hey ! This tip sprung into my mind last night, so gave hubby (Jos) a cup of ice-water to drink, as cold as I could manage. He was amazed by the results! He had already taken imitrex, but he sayd it still felt like it hit him right between the eye, this sudden cold. Next time we tried it without imitrex, didn't work unfortunately, perhaps it could, were not sure yet. Will keep trying. Anyway thanks for this simple but BIG tip!!!
