Left Middle Turbinectomy and Concha Bullosa

Hi All!

Two weeks ago I stated that using a mouthguard alleviated my CH's.  Well, I spoke too soon.
I woke up a few nights ago (mouthguard intact) with a real winner!

My symptoms were the same.  HOT poker, eye-tearing, sore face and MAJOR left nostril congestion.  The pain was so excruciating it had me making promises to God.... and I didn't even do anything!

I went to my ENT today and he said that I needed  to have an in-office procedure called a left middle turbinectomy and concha bullosa.

Has anyone else had this surgery performed?  Did it help you?

Thanks!!

Are you seeing a neuro for your CH? Diagmosed? An ENT is not going to help you with CH. What meds have you tried? Have you tried O2? Airliners have o2, dont they? Sorry about all the ?`s but give us more info. Imitrex inj.  works great but i prefer 02. Thats my 2 cents  ............andy

Hi Andy,
My Neuro doesn't have a clue.  He said I might have some sort of facial neuralgia.  Gimme a break!
He's the one who sent me to the ENT.
I did have sinus surgery a few years ago and it alleviated the CH's for a while.  Who knows?  I probably wasn't having a cycle then.
The full-face O2 masks are in the cockpit.  I planned on going up there if one hit me inflight.

Imitrex (pill form) worked in the beginning. Not anymore.  I'm afraid of injections.

Gal, Have you done the cluster quiz? If it's clusters you are having, do NOT consent to  any surgery at this moment in time!

Get thee to the OUCH website (yellow button left) and chek the cluster help menu for recommended doctors.

You may find a knowledgeable doc in your area, or wherever you are flying to, lol.

Excellent advice from Ave...I wouldn't consent to any surgery for CH prior to much effort in the medication department which takes a bit of time.  Find a doc, and make that a priority!   ;D

If you can get your doctor to prescribe Imitrex VIALS and syringes (you need a prescription for them too) that are U-100 insulin type syringes with #28 guage needles... you can hardly feel them. I was apprehensive about sticking myself at first but it turned out to be a ho-hum not a big deal. The Imitrex Statdose fuckers hurt though... needle is too damn big.

I don't ever feel the needle, just the push of med which is still nothing...just me I guess.
