Vicks Vapor Inhaler

Hi all,
I am a CH sufferer for about 6 or 7 years.  Been cycle free for about 3 years, but get minor bouts of it from time to time, maybe once a month or every other month.  The doctor's, years ago, tried many different treatments, best thing I found when I was in a major cycle (2 months straight) was prednisone.

Another thing I found, purely by accident, was a Vicks Vapor Inhaler.  I carry it with me every day, where ever I go, and if I can sense an attack coming on, I inhale once in each nostril, wait a few minutes and then do it again.  I have a 90% abort rate with this treatment.  The only ones I cannot abort are the ones that wake me up in the middle of the night, have to suffer for an hour before getting over it.  Trust me, the Vicks works.  Costs a few bucks and takes up hardly any pocket space.  It is a God-send.

Found out today that a co-worker of mine may be a clusterhead also.  Waiting for him to get back to work to see if I can help him.  I surely will tell him about this site.

Any comments, please e-mail me at speedopg@aol.com

Hi Ben

This sounds a bit mad, but thinking about it (someone will put me right here if I'm wrong) some of the nasal inhalers are quite powerful dilators and also 'speed' substitutes (hence why athletes can't use them to enhance performance or they fail drug tests)

Perhaps it is something to do with altering the amount of oxygen pumping around your brain, therefore acting in a similar way to 02??

Just a thought, but hell, I'd give it a try!

Hey Wendy, not sure if that stuff has any nasties in it.  Mainly the Camphor and Menthol and some other stuff I can look up.  I quick wiff in each nostril, maybe a second after a few minutes and I am OK.  With a 90% abort rate when I am not in a major cycle, not like it addicting.

The Prednisone is a different story.  The doctor put me on a very small dosage for only 9 days and that helped abort the major cycle.  30 mg for 3 days, 20 mg for 3 more days and then 10 mg for the last 3 days.

The Vicks is mainly to help get rid of the minor hits, and a tube lasts 2 years in my pocket.

Hmm, interesting.  I am definately going to try this - $2 isn't much of a gamble.  I've been shadowing nonstop for about 3 days, maybe this will help.  I'll let you know.

Thanks for the tip BenGrossi!
