Shroom update

Hi everybody,

Since I promised to update you every once in a while: here is one....

I've been chronic for 6 years, started shrooms every 2 weeks in july '01. Did that for about half a year, stopped in jan 2002 and didn't take *any* meds ( nor shrooms) since.
No more attacks, CH is completely gone, except from an occasional shadow max once per month. So either I'm episodic, or it's competely gone....  Anyway 2 years with no attacks is like a godsend.......

PFDAN's to you all,

Henk

Henk,

That's great to hear. I think there are more stories like yours that don't get reported. Once the CH's are gone some people don't come back to the board. Thanks for the update.

Since you are still getting shadows, I would take a preventative dose every six months. I think this would insure your continued success.

I love to see these kinds of stories. Especially from someone who was chronic.

Please keep us updated,
Mitch

So let me get this straight, if I were to eat mushrooms,(the kind that grow under cow shit, the kind I used to eat to trip) every oh I don't know 4-6 months, there is a chance that my clusters will stay away next time?
I know this is pretty basic info for alot of you at this point but I' m new here and was'nt expecting this.   hell,I'm game.
this current cycle is now entering week 5. I'm getting larger windows of pain free time now but they keep commin'.

5-string -

Here's a better address for shroom info. It includes the faq and a whole website full of info. Check out the archives while you're there - a great collection of discussions on the topic from years gone by.

In a nutshell:

Yes eating a small dose of magic mushrooms every 6 months between episodes will prevent the episodes in most cases.

The mushrooms can also be used to abort current episodes but this may take anything from a single dose (as in my case for the last decade I've used this treatment) to a weekly dose for 6 months like Henk.

The secret is to take the shrooms at regular 6 month intervals between episodes.

Great results Henk...I did my first dose in Feb 2002...two doses a week apart...then, averaging about every six months since...Chronic since 76, Inderal controlled since 88...but had to come off steroid due to asthma complications...still have shadows when overtired, but livable and so thankful to be rid of the steroid...have even managed to lose weight...PPP

Inderal is a beta blocker not a steroid.  It does cause complications with asthma.  It also slows your heart rate so you get tired faster.

It's not a good drug for CH because one of the side effects of a bad CH attack is trachycardia (slow and irregular heartbeat).  Believe me that betblocker and trachycardia no mix.  My heart rate dropped to 30bps, thought I was toast.  Glad you are off it!
