Is there any similarities between the effects of ergotomine and shrooms in the body.   Someone is allergic to ergot, and has been told not to use shroom, because the same reaction would happen ???

With a breif search it looks like the chemistry is very different between the two. I Don't think we will find any real studys on the subject. Only one way to find out it seems.

Arent there people out there taking both erg and Imitrex at the same time?
Is that what you mean?

Both ergotamine and triptans are indole derivatives with vasoconstrictory effects - both taken at the same time exponentiate their a.m. action and may cause a heart or a brain stroke in the worst case. That's the reason why you should not take a triptan and an ergotamine derivative at the same time.

Besides, there is the danger of the serotonin syndrome, too.
