Anyone have experience with a drug called SAM-e? It is sort of new in the US and is supposed to be good for depression and liver problems. It was discovered in Italy around 40 years ago.

I've searched for S-adenosylmethionine (SAM-e) in the Swiss Pharmaceutical Compendium, but didn't find anything. No wonder, a Google search for SAM-e brings up thousands of hits, mostly from the food supplement fraternity. Reading "Coral Calcium | Sam-e | Noni" in an advertisement hints on its rating in the "alternative" medication business. However, there are a few more serious sites, like http://www.geriatrictimes.com/g010923.html. I suggest you comb through the Google results for URL's from reputable organisations and universities. Look here. Quite a bit of information to wade through, I hope some of it is useful.

No research on S-adenosylmethionine and clusters that I have heard of, but there is a lot of research on PubMed. SAM-e improves serotonin synthesis in some people, and is tied into the melatonin and circadian cycles. It can also be beneficial for the liver and cartilage.
