I feel I must share some exciting information with all other Clusterheads here. I have been suffering from CH for the last 3.5 years. I started as episodal but turned chronic about a year ago. The attacks were daily with no remissions with an average of 5 attacks daily lasting from 30 minutes to a few hours at times. I have become totally dependant on permanent oxygen supply and couldn't leave home for too long in case I'll get caught withouut my oxygen. three weeks ago, on advise of my neurologist, I started Lithium therapy (900 mg daily). I was amazed to be relieved immidiately and now it has been 20 days without any sign of ch. personally I find it amazing, and up until now I havent noticed any side effects. Just thought some of you find this info usefull. good luck !

Lithum was a wonder drug for me for a couple of years and then it quit working. I hope you continue to get many good years of enjoyment from it. Good luck!

Welcome to hell, nimrod. A quick click on the "medical info" link on the left will yield many happy results. In fact, check out this link: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/about.html#Lithium Many pain free days and nights (PFDAN) to you, Bill

Lithuim worked for me for about 9 months at 1100mgs, then like everything else, quit working! I got the shakes REAL bad, so I had my doc take me back off of it.

I should add that I took lithium about 5 years ago. I think the dosage was 600 mg/day. Anyhow, it quit working after about a year, and my hands were starting to shake. Was off of it for about 4 years or so, then my neuro decided to put me back on it after the good, long holiday. Been on it, along with 480 mg/day of Verapamil when the Verapamil/Prednisone combo was becoming ineffective at 480 mg / 30 mg respectively. Haven't had a headache for over a month. It works for me, but if history is any indication of future performance, it'll be scrapped again next year about this time. Bill

Glad something is working for you! I tried the Lithium about 9 years ago, with no success, except for some really nasty side effects!
