Sleeping with Oxygen

Sleeping through the night with O2. I've had fairly good success getting a reasonable night's sleep by using O2 at 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 L/min with the nose tubes. Still use the full face mask at high volumes to abort an attack, but the low volume O2 really seems to help me as a short term prophylactic. Usually I can get 5 /12 to 6 1/2 hrs sleep, except during the most intense period of a cycle. I also believe that for me the more oxygen I swallow, the shorter the cycle - but this is just a gut feeling.

Hopefully, you already know that too much O2 will burn (scar) your lungs (Too much of a good thing  ) If you use a face mask, I'd suggest removing the strap to allow the mask to fall off when you fall asleep. Using a nasal cannula (nose thingy) doesn't provide nearly enough O2 to abort a CH, but I must admit I've never tried low flow O2 as an overnight preventative........interesting. Marc
