Sweet, sweet caffeine!!!!

This site is amazing. I have been suffering from CH for 11years. I just started a cluster about a week ago. They have now kicked into full swing. Luckly, I have the summers off from work, so I can afford some down time.
I have tried a variety of meds over the years, but nothing has been effective. So, I ventured out on my own to find some reliefe.
What works for me is a high, I mean high, dose of caffeine. I like to slug down two NoDoze pills chased by a caffeinated soda. If I can catch a headache just as it starts, it can't even rear it's ugly little head. The problem is I get a bad stomachache later in the day and I know I am killing my kidneys. But, as you all know, the side effects of the caffeine are far more barable than the worst sustained pain a humane can experience.
Please give me feedback on my methode. I will continue to check out the site. Keep on keep'n on all.

My brother was lucky, I was the only one of five living relatives that could donate a kidney for him. He was looking at ambulatory dialysis 3 X a day for the rest of his life. Please, take care of your kidneys and keep a regular check. Personally, I would rather deal with CH.

Welcome to the board jloc,
Many of us claim to experience relief in many varied ways......caffeine is a much tried remedy, delivered usually in the hottest coffee possible. I am a firm believer in better living through chemistry so look here. For more natural avenues of relief look here. Good luck!

I have to say, it seems like my body tolerates it much better then any other kind of caffeine, especially coffee. Yerba Mate' is another option, but has mateine' instead of caffeine (a very close relative) Yerba does not work as well for many people because it is not as strong of a vasco-consticter, but does help some, as the vitamin and mineral content is unbelievable, Both together seems to work wonderfully for me. In the immediate neccesity, I highly reccomend guarana, and all in all I recommend Yerba for almost everything. It has higher nutrition amounts than most food, tastes like green tea and is known for helping with more ailments than I could ever list. There is tons of info on the net for both. Good luck all!!! Guarana is in Arizona Energy, and a lot of the new energy drinks. It's a legal stimulant apparently similar to caffeine and helps...a little.

The only way caffeine ever helped me was in the form of a fresh brewed steaming hot coffee cup. I tried all the soft drinks, etc. Did nothing. To this DAY when attack is imminent, I want that coffee. No matter what I am taking from advice of physician, that perculator is cranking.

I've tried the high doses of caffeine (mountain dew, red bull, etc. have a lot of caffeine and they're cold if you prefer cold to hot) and occasionally it knocks the headache down from a 9-10 to a 7-8, but other times it makes it far worse...then I switch to massive amounts of H2O.
