Hi - My husband has CH. He has been taking Verapamil daily. When he gets a CH, he takes the Imitrex Injections, which take care of the CH within 5 minutes. He is now out of Imitrex and no refills for another week. Any suggestions on getting through til then?

You could call his doctor and see if there are some manufacturer's samples that the doc is willing to part with. Also click on the 'imitrex tip' button on the left side of the board. Your hubby can get 2 or 3 shots out of one injector. Most people report that just a third of an injection is enough to stop the pain. Welcome to the board. Does your husband like to talk on the computer about his "condition"? Lots of very informed sufferers here and many wonderful supporters at the Supporter's Corner of this site. Please go over there and say Hi.

Doing either 1/2 or 1/3 an imitex injection has literally saved my life this cycle. Even then I am flying through imitrex like crazy and the thought of being without puts me in complete panic mode.

Hi All - My husband (Joe), has been doing the 1/3 injections for about 2 weeks. It certainly has stretched the Imitrex and it is working well. He sometimes has to do another 1/3, but after that he feels good and sleeps well (5-7 hours sometimes). The Imitrex Tip saved his life and we thank you all. The battle with the Insurance Company has finally come to an end. After agressive work by the Doctor and Pharmacist, we have finally gotten some relief from the HELL of no Imitrex. We'll be back often, and really want to thank you all. If we hadn't found this website, we would be at wits end. Thank you! Lynne and Joe

I use Imitrex, 1/3 dose, during my cycles like a lot of the people have attested to. What I also do, is to continue to buy the max amount approved by my insurance throughout the year. Too stockpile it for the next attack. It stores well. I have used it up to 2 years from when I purchased it as it still works as well.
