Any theories on why almost all the meds seem to work for a while and then loose their effectiveness?  It seems no matter what, we have to suffer before the cycle ends.

We don't know why they loose effectiveness because
we don't know why they work (not exactly).

We don't know

wrong button, sorry.

Not all meds loose effectiveness for everybody.

We don't know exactly why meds work, because we don't know exactly what process causes clusters.

So no, we don't know why they stop working for some.

Any theory is just that... and has no basis in fact even.

Your body will build resistence to almost any drug over time. Certian drugs dont fit into that catagory. Your Doctor should know which is which.

I am an episodic sufferer.  My theory, for what it is worth is that the CH's are like lightning.  It builds up until it has to discharge somewhere.  I always experience an ebb and flow in the number and intensity of headaches when I am in a cycle.  The best I have ever been able to do is, sort of control them for the 4 months that my cycles always last.
