Hi Ive never posted in this section of the message board seeing as though I'm pretty new anyways and I don't have too much experience and knowledge with meds BUT I did get the nerve block at the begining of last winter and it only worked for that day into that night...then the pain was back again.  BUT i have heard it works wonderfully for other ppl and can sometimes last for months (keep in mind this is only what I have heard)  Best of luck to you with it and congrats on it working for 10 days so far....that's wonderful in itself!

If anyone is interested in the surgical intervention route, there are new treatments being trialled which look more promising than the Occipital Nerve Block. See Cathy's UK Ch Conference thread, or get a copy of Goadsby's presentation tape.
One involving blocking the affected part of the  hypothalamus looks very promising

Got it done this morning, wasn't sure what the procedure was at the time but it was a heck of a painful shot.

Didn't do much for the attack already in progress; that took 4 hours to wipe out.

After a pain-free evening, I started getting "dissipated shadows" dancing in the background at night.  Meanwhile, my neck/head was so sore from the shot, I could not move it.

By 2:30AM, the shadows turn into a bona-fide CH attack and I have to wipe it out with Imitrex.

It was just another crude and ineffective treatment for me...
