I was just wondering where the "regulars" are from. I'm in St. Peters, just outside of St. Louis, MO. I visit here when I'm in my cycle (support) and every once in a while otherwise. Has anyone ever tried to get a local support group together? Would be interested in knowing my "kin", and wondering in anyone has had success with this type of organization.

There has been no local support group started in the midwest as of yet. There was a rumor of one in the idea stage.

i know this is a support page and were all here to help each other through the tough times, offer advice, ect... but to me a face to face support meeting would feel too much like an A.A. meeting. everyone sharing their "war stories", hugging, crying, sucking on o2 masks LOL!! im sorry, but ive never been a fan of the aa meeting thing, been there, done that, then went home and got drunk. finally sobered up on my own with no help from anyone besides my wife. i know chs and alcoholism are 2 completely different things but the whole support group "feeling" would be the same. or maybe im just anti-social! ----N btw, i live in wisconsin but am from peoria, illinois. i lived there from birth untill age 26, so im not a cheese head, i just married one!!

Hi Koda,
Not sure what ya have to do to be a regular....
About 2 years ago I grabbed the email address of CH sufferers from in and around my area, wrote up a short email asking if anyone was interested in getting together with other clusterheads maybe once a month for a coffee or something. I thought it would be wonderful and beneficial to actually meet someone who truly understood what you live with and to be able to develop a local support system to share information about doctors, medications, etc. Like what happens here in many ways just with a bit more personal touch. I guess I need social contact, I have found that being a chronic CH sufferer can be a very isolating condition. Anyhow, I guess I must be wierd cause no one even emailed me back to tell me to go to hell..LOL

Hi Danielle-
Sorry to hear about your lack of success! I too think it would be very benefitial to meet other "like us"- Nathan doesn't have to participate- LOL- but I think bonding over coffee would be not only helpful, informative, and a relief to see you're not "the only one", but also kinda fun. Nobody understands us more than other like us.
Don't give up. I got an email from a guy in my city and we're getting together tomorrow night with our spouses for dinner. I think it will be wonderful for my husband to talk with someone who goes through the other side of it too- witnessing the pain.
I can't wait!
