Does anybody know of any long term effects the use of imitrex injections has on the body? And does anybody know if having a third injection in 24 hours potentially does any damage?I am currently having my worst bout for 4 years and took 3 injections yesterday.I do not suffer any side effects but I wondered if by doing so I was potentially doing any irrepairable damage to my body? steve34877

To me stopping the damn headache is worth just about anything, including damage to the body. I would stick a rusty nail in me if I thought it would help.

I've taken as many as four shots in a 24 hr period and although some might disagree, I'm no worse off than I was before. Jim

I have done 4 also in 24 hours with no bad effect. I talked to a guy from Sweeden who said he had taken up to 10 (!) in a 24 hour period. That sounds like a bit much, hard on your heart you know. I would piss on a spark plug if I thought it would help. PFDAN's Mark

I was taking 4/5 per day. I had 20 doses and insurance only would pay for 2 a day. Ran out and had a terrible night without shots. That night I discovered this site and the "imitrex tip" Sure enough half doses worked perfectly/even tried 1/3s also worked fine... Had I have known would have not had the bad nite. By the way no noticable effects to the extra doses/ a guy from the UK said they prescribe more if needed in Europe. I suspect the 2 dose rule comes from the insurance co's cheapness!! Gene
