Hello again (continued from the ‘general info’ section.) I am happy to say that I have just had my first full night of sleep with no pain in over a month. I will get to yesterday’s ‘race for the cure’ later. First, I want to tell you what has worked for me in the past. Of course, the following is my experience and what worked for me may not work for you. Whatever you think about me and my experience and whatever you decide to do, my prayers are with you for pain free days and nights. First, Acupuncture. Not all Acupuncture is equal. As a chiropractor I was at one time certified to practice Acupuncture in 26 states. I know from experience there are almost as many different approaches as there are practitioners. Over the last 25 years I have been to 7 different acupuncturists; 4 have given total relief that lasted from 2 - 7 years, 1 had no effect and 2 made things worse. Here’s the scoop. The first Acupuncturist I saw in Baltimore had great success with improvement after the second session - headaches gone with five treatments. She was a graduate of the Traditional School of Acupuncture (now the Tai Sophia Institute,) in Maryland and practiced Dr. Worsley’s approach to the Five Element theory of treatment. I continued for a total of about 10 treatments then went pain free for over 2 years. By the time the headaches returned, this wonderful lady had married and left practice. I found a new guy, Bob Brown, also in Baltimore, graduate of the same school and using a similar technique. Over the next 14 years Bob continue to work miracles. Sometimes he needed as many as 6 or 7 sessions to make significant improvement but I could always count on Bob. Then I moved to Phoenix. When the CH returned I went to an oriental gentleman who was a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and well respected in the community with all kinds of success stories - each treatment he gave me made the headaches worse and 3 sessions was all I could handle. Then came another guy that made them worse. Next was a Five Element practitioner from another school and there was no change after 5 sessions. Then I got wise and looked for a TSA grad - BAM! Success in 5 sessions. Three years later, Little Rock, Arkansas. Another episode, another TSA grad, another success. Another three years and they are back again but this time I am in Texas and there are no TSA(I) grads in the entire state. The WWW (lots of water) usually but not always keeps them to a 6 or 7 when I drink enough and for now I just pray a lot. If you decide to see an acupuncturist, here is what I would recommend as a chiropractor and based on personal experience: 2-3 treatments and the pain worsens, just say good-bye 5-6 treatments and there is no change, either try a few more or ask for a referral and say good-bye 5-6 treatments with improvement or total relief, Thank God and your acupuncturist and CONTINUE TREATMENT. Go monthly for several months and then four or five times a year, or whatever is recommended by the doctor. If you are interested you can go to the Tai Sophia Institute website at tai.edu and click on 'resources & services' to look for a graduate near you. Good luck! Turns out this post is too long so I will continue with another post - Tryptophan C U Shortly, Dell
