More on Magnesium

I'd read a thread a few weeks ago that recommended Magnesium.  So bought myself some good quality stuff and started in at a modest 250 mg a day with food.

When I began I was about 5 weeks into the usual hellish cycle.  But the #&*%@! things have been tapering off, wouldn't you know?  I can't be sure however if the cycle was just winding down on its own or if the Mg was doing the trick.  But I'm finding that now I'm only getting very brief attacks at night, not the Kip 8-10s of the early weeks but maybe..... 5-6s?  And they're also more frontal, right around the eye orbit and not moving back to the temple as the real killers generally do.

Wondered if anyone else has had experiences of a similar nature?

Hey Spin, I started that thread about magnesium a few weeks ago. I swear by Magnesium! I do not believe that it has any power to stop a cycle, but I am definately sure that in my past (and currently, uggghh) that it decreases the intensity of EVERY attack. I am toward the end of my cycle and I can sometimes abort an attack by chewing up a 250 Mg mag. supplement and rubbing the back of my neck in the way talked about here on this board. My attacks use to hit up to an 8 guaranteed if I did not get some Zomig in me, but while taking mag. they only get up to 5 at best. I definately recommend it for everyone... makes the dance slightly easier to do.
Maybe your cycle is fading away, or maybe the Magnesium is just simply decreasing the intensity of the attacks (hopefully choice number !  ;D) I take as much Magnesium as I can without my body telling me its full of it.... (Diarrhea    Embarassed... haha)
Hope my experiences help you some how!

Thanks Chris - it was your earlier thread with its suggestions that got me interested in magnesium in the first place.  Had never heard of it.  So many thanks for that!

I intend to keep taking it until this cycle clearly dissipates.  Coming up on 2 months now so I'm hoping this will be soon.  Next time I get hit I'll start the Mg at the first sign.

PS haven't experienced any of the laxative effects of the stuff.  Again, responding either to yours or some one else's advice, I bought the Mg in non-oxide form, so maybe that's what keeping things from getting out of hand?

Weeeeeelllll.... appears I spoke too soon.  Because after nearly a month of daily Mg and concomittent lessening of attacks I got hit with a real atom bomb last night, one of those midnight pacers in which one yearns for a revolver.

So jury still out on the magnesium for me at least!
