Frova??

After trying to fight this thing for about six months now, my Doc gave me some samples of Frova.  Anyone have any success.  Half life of this little pill can be 22 hrs.  You can take it up to three time a day.  Might work as a preventative.  Can't really tell yet if it's the prednisone or Frova, but they've almost stopped.  At least I haven't had a KIP 10 in a week.

Frova cost a lot of $$$ it only worked for me on low kips
I don't think the insurance companys are going to give you a lot of frova maybe 9-10 pills a month. Not enough
for preventative.I will take my imitrex injection over frova any day.Love the TREX Smiley Smiley Smiley

Ain't it amazing how the insurance companies control our lives?  Thank god for the free samples!!!  Guess it's time for me to buy some more insurance so they can tell me what I can and can't take  Angry Angry Angry

Newhead,

I'm chronic so I was excited when Frova was announced. But, in my case it didn't appear to work well at all.  It's was too slow to be used as an abortive, and the long half-life really didn't seem to help me at all as a preventative.  But, some folks here have reported good success with it.

For me, Imitrex injections are fast and reliable, Maxalt and Zomig can be effective IF taken soon enough. If most of your "hits" come at night after you've fallen asleep, I'd try Amerge.  I'm convinced that Amerge has a longer effective life (for me) than Frova.

Please keep in mind that what works for me, may fail miserably for you - the above is based strictly on my own experiences.

Please let us know how it works for you - I'd really like to hear some more success stories with Frova!  Grin

Neuro prescribed Frova (2.5mg per "evening"Wink, Depakote (1000mg per day), Varipimil (360mg per day).  Have o2 backup and Imitrex (20mg spray).  Just dropped off Prednasone Rx just in case.

Same crap from the Insurance company.  "You can only have (9) this many"...."Well when can I refill them"?.  18 days from when you first filled the Rx.  ???  Had to have my Dr. over-ride distribution limits.  Fixing to go pick up more.  Goin' hiking (GSM) and don't want to leave home without it.

This is the first time I've used Frova.   Happy to say that this cycle has been nothing...yet.  The beast has been held at bay with the exception of little bumps here and there.

Don't know if this helps.  Results will vary.

PFDAN and see Ya'll later.
