Symptoms and no pain

I am having all the symptoms of a headache, the drooping eye, watering eye, running nose, pressure behind eye and pressure in ear but no pain like I usually do. And my right side of my face espically around my eye is a little swollen (puffy).  It is kind of weird.  This is the first time I have experienced this (and I have been getting these things for 14 years).  I did get a few ice pick stabs for about 3 minutes about and hour ago and that was it.

Roseanne,
I don't know what to say except, "How strange".  I'd say enjoy it while it lasts except who knows what's causing it.
Hopefully somebody else will be more help, I just didn't want your thread to go unanswered.
     Take care,           els

Hi Roseanne, I know exactly what you mean.  After being in full blown cycle for 13 months, I went from October 2002 to March 2003 with all the CH symptoms except the extreme pain.  During that time (Oct-Mar) I wasn't taking any meds.  These are known as 'silent attacks'.  Then in April, I got the pain again, and have been in full blown cycle since.  If you're not taking any meds, perhaps you too are experiencing the unusual 'silent attacks'.  But if you are taking meds, perhaps the meds are stopping the extreme pain, but not the other symptoms.  I got those 'ice pick' jabs too.  I hope your CH leaves totally and never comes back.

I am on 480mg of Verapamil, 100mg of Topamaz, 40mg of Elavil as ;D ;D preventive and O2, Zyprexa and DHE 45 as abortive. I have been in cycle for 4 weeks.  Hit Kip 10 two weeks ago and now at Kip 4 to 6. Pain free since Friday except for the ice pick stabs.  Come and go every couple of hours and only last a couple of minutes.  Maybe the meds are working. ;D

I don't remember having those "silent attacks" before, but since I've been on verpamil those have become somewhat common. They're not "no pain", but little pain. Would be irritating if I didn't know the alternative  Wink

Yes, I have silent attacks all the time. Very, very seldom they pump themselves up and I gat some pain, mostly they just stay at a level that I would not have noticed in the old days before I ever had clusters.

With me it may be the influence of the shroom therapy. I have taken a prventive dose 3 times now and am happy to say I have not been visited by the beast when it roars. Not yet. knock on wood.

I get those too near the end of a cycle. Stuffy nostril, Kip-1 or 2 pain that comes and goes, an occasional shooting pain that lasts 5 seconds. It's just the beast f*cking with you... letting you know he isn't gone yet.
