Im into week # 6 after a 6 year break, Wow I thought they were gone for good. Started prednisone at 80Mg a day a week ago and am going to start tapering off tomorrow, Im going to try very slowly -decrease by 10mg's every second. No attacks at all after the second day ,life is good, The side effects from prednisone are easier to take than the pain. Beeen eating a lot and aggitated but not as bad as it affected me years ago. Ive been trying to find info on what side effect or problems others have had if they have taken prednisone for any lenght of time and at what dose. I will stay on this stuff forever if it keeps the pain away. In the past 22 years I have seen lots of specialists and Doctors and now I tell the Doctors what I want and need as they just dont know what do do? I was in his office a week ago on my hands and knees screaming so he is now convinced that Im in big trouble if I dont find something that works. Any advise would be greatly appreciated . Have a Great day Wayne

Wish we could take Prednisone forever... to many bad side effects. Weakens immune system. Can cause renal failure. Weakens bones and muscles. List can go on and on. Just plain nasty stuff to stay on. Stops my headaches in their tracks though, until I get to about 20-30 mgs a day.

I'm starting second round of Prednisone- after suffering on and off for 20 + years I found a Dr. in april that understands them Good thing as this Cycle started In Jan. Any way used Pred. for 7 days 80 mg then taped for 7 days. then when back to Dr. I only had one headache in that time fram but lots of shadows more then if I had had the headaches them self. Dr said she want to restart Pred. and go longer 70 mg - 5days 60 mg 5 days etc. Here is what she is doing to help counter some side effects Diet Needs to be very high in potassium, Protien, and very low salt. Plus take 800 I.U. Vit D 1x day 1 gram calcium 1x day Hope this helps Roger

Am finding relief with Maxalt MLT 10mg + O2 but would LOVE to be able to run. I need to stay in training for 1/2 marathons but get kip 10's within an hour after running EVERY time. I've found in the past when taking Prednisone for poison oak, that it can make me very irritable. Has anyone found that, when taken for longer periods & in doses perscribes for CH's, the irritability deminishes? I actually found I got a bit of an energy kick when I'd run "on" Prednisone but I suspect that's a steroidal side effect. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Started my 60MG the taper-down regiment yesterday. I go on and off about every three month--during the crescendo of 12 hour attack intervals. Ahhh, the life of a chronic. Side Effects for me (visible/tactile) are just that I can sleep for 3 hours and be rested. Plus, I get to watch TV. Normally, I can't watch a show past one hour or an attack will occur. Great timing I guess w/the Matrix in the theatre. First film I'll see in a looooong time.

| Wow...I hadn't made the connection to watching TV or movies until you mentioned that! Half way through 3 or the last 4 movies I've seen I've been hit good. Not as often but worth noting, I get hit after an hour of TV. So I'm hearing that the Predisone stops or reduces the frequency of you CH's ? Thanks
