Ive had my first dose of imitrex, and feeling really groggy and dopey. Has this happened to anyone else? It feels like my energys been drained out of me. Even typing's a small effort. ???

b.bop,

I usually take it in the middle of the night when I am half asleep anyway so I can't say it has made me anymore sleepier than I was ;D

The side effects I did get in the beginning were a heated flush sensation and tingling on the top of my head!! I also felt a bit lightheaded but it went away in a few minutes.

When I cut my dosage down to 1/3 of the full 6 mg the symptoms went away.

I always assumed I was groggy from the after effects of the CH. Interesting....

Yep, groggy, groggy and groggy!!!  Along with lack of concentration and energy.  You feel like you want to lay down -- but you're not sleepy..

I get the groggy feeling too, but it doesn't last longer than a 1/2 hour.  After that I feel normal.  However, I get hit mostly around supper time and I cannot eat after giving myself a shot.  I have to wait a few hours.  So now I have to start eating earlier, cause if I lose anymore weight, I will become invisible! LOL

As Christine said, I most often shoot with imitrex after being awakened from sleep with the beastly visit, so after waiting my 5 - 7 minutes for relief.......it's back to resting and hopefully a peaceful sleep until the next attack during daytime or the following evening.

When daytime visits occur, I usually lie down to rest (from "lack of sleep" during a cycle anyway)....after taking my imitrex

Hope this little bit of info helps and wishing you pf moments
