As a 20 year clusterhead, I am pleased that the one medication I feared (stigma) all these years, is the one medication that is working for me. Lithium. It ended my last cluster episode within a couple of days at 900mg and I haven't had even a hint of one since. I know from experience with other meds that this relief may be short lived but I am enjoying it right now. I feel like a real boy Gepetto! I have some cognitive impairment from it, not a whole lot but I do feel more empathy with Homer Simpson these days. I stumble over my words some. My memory has been affected some. But a small price to pay for peace. My Neuro only wants me to stay on it during my episodes even though they are concerned I might be turning chronic. I know how these drugs tend to be less effective when you go off of them and try them the next time so screw him. I'm staying on this stuff until it works no more or my kidneys give out.

Stoney, not to promote further drug use but verapamil and lithium seem to work well for many of us. If the Lith plays out on you try to keep taking it and supplement with verapamil at around 480 mg. When you get break troughs try O2 and or Imetrix Inj. Not a simple deal Hu Lee
