I just injected myself with imatrix about a half hour ago. The very second i injected it my whole left side of my head felt like it was going to explode( my cluster side is on the right side )and felt like their were needles thruout my whole left side( it lasted for approx.90 seconds )and everything back to normal. Has this ever happened to any of you? PFDAN to everyone.

Imitrex Side Effects If you feel dizzy or fatigued after your migraine, or after taking Imitrex, do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you feel better. More Common Imitrex Side Effects: Altered sense of taste, burning in nose, discharge in nose, pain or soreness in nose, burning at injection site, pain at injection site, redness at injection site, discomfort in jaw, mouth, tongue, throat, nose, or sinuses, dizziness, drowsiness, burning or warm sensation, heat, numbness, tightness, or tingling, feeling cold, feeling strange or weak, flushing, lightheadedness, muscle aches or cramps, stiffness, vertigo, nausea or vomiting. Check with your doctor if these persist. Less Common Imitrex Side Effects: Agitation, altered sense of smell, anxiety, constipation, depression, diarrhea, difficulty concentrating, difficulty urinating or frequent urination, feeling of well-being, fainting, hearing problems, menstrual pain, sweating, tearing, tremors, visual disturbances. Stop taking Imitrex and speak to your doctor soon if the following rare side effects occur: Heaviness, pain, or tightness in chest or neck, racing heartbeat, skin rash, hives, itching, difficulty swallowing. http://accessmednet.com/prescription-drug-information/imitrex-side-effec ts.html#side-effects I have experienced some mild side effects, but not what you have described. I am glad to get the effects, it lets me know relief is coming. Is Imitrex a new med for you or are you a long time user. What other meds are you using? Is this the first time this has happened to you. I am looking for something different that your regular routine that may signal a cause for your reaction. Good luck, Mark

Mark, Thank you for your responce. As to your question,I have been using imatrix since 1998,it is the only abortive that works for me( chronic )oxygen does not do squat for me ( yes i had the proper mask ). I spoke with my dr. last night and he has never heard of a side effect of what i described of what happened to me last night, that kind of scares me because he is a famous dr. for clusters ( kudrow ) he told me to stop using it untill i come to his office ( i will call tomm. a.m. ). Yes this was the first time that this has ever happened to me( all i use use now for each injection is 2mg.,works just as well as 6mg.)there has been many times in the past where i have used it 6-7 times in a day( 6-mg. )and without a problem( even though my dr. was telling me not to( he's not feeling this pain)about 2 years ago i had a connection for all the imatrix i wanted ( posted it on the board and even sent private e-mails to about 4or 5 people that were crying about how they cant afford it,can you beleive not one responce. As far as preventative meds go,i take verapamil and lithium. Did i mention,i was at my ex-wifes place when this happened and she dialed 911?Of course i declined to have them see me( this only lasted for about 90 seconds, then back to normal ). Anyways hopefully this answers your ques. and this note finds you PF with many more to come.

hi just wanted to throw in my experience with imitrex and see if any one else had the problem. i used imitrex for 10 maybe 15 injections over the course of a couple weeks . slowly it worked less and less and then began to intensify the headaches to beyond the worst 10 pain i ever experienced. that was at least 4 years ago but i never wanted to try it again as im sure you can understand. jonmach

Thanks Lenny, I am glad to hear less than 6mg of Imitrex has worked for you. Imitrex is nectar of the Gods as far as I am concerned. I intend on using less eariler in an attack on my next cycle. There are times, many times, twice a day is not enough. Like you, my neuro wants to limit my intake. No more than one shot per day, but like you said, its my head hurting. My heart is in good shape and I am willing to take the risk for the relief. I go back to the neuro next week and hope to try Verapmil. I have had just about everything else. I still dont know why he hasn't given it to me before now. Let us know what happens at the DR, I am curious as to what it may be. I hope and pray its nothing serious. Hell after CH its going to be hard to find something more "serious". Good luck Lenny, Mark

Lenny - I have experienced some of the more common side effects, but nothing like you explained. As with you, I'm concerned as to what that could be - but not taking the injections would NOT be an option for me. Sorry I can't help you, but hopefully your doc will tell you it was an isolated case and you'll be fine.... Please keep us posted.... NotH20

Mark and Noth20, I thank the 2 of you for your concern and will definately post on this thread as to what my dr. thinks or knows what happened saturday night. As to you Mark verapamil never helped me by itself or with any other med.combo except with "Lithium".I dont know what i would do if they tell me i cant use imatrix anymore( its my savior)nothing else does it for me. Hopefully i can get in today and see my doc, they dont start answering the phones till 9:00a.m. and its only 6:30a.m. now. Hopefully this note finds you guys PF with many more to come. Lenny

My experience with Trex wasn't the best. To begin with, I had minimal if any relief from my CH with it. And every time I injected, my whole head would feel like it was on the verge of exploding. It wasn't really much compared to the CH, but with the Trex not helping the CH any, it was just one more annoyance to deal with along with the beast. PFDAN......................................... Mark and notH20, First of all i hope you and your loved ones are safe ( tornado wise ). Don't be jealous,i decided not to go to the beach( 82-degrees)way too hot LOL. According to my doc,he is puzzled as to what happened on saturday, all he could think of that i might of hit a blood vessel. He gave me the green light to use the trex.,last night was one of those nights from hell. I always inject myself in the gut ( he wants me to use my arm or thigh ) his reasoning is there are no vessels in those areas.I have no fat in the arm or the thighs( so i will continue to use my gut)some habits are so hard to break LOL. I have done this 1000 - 2000 times with no exaggeration and never had this happen. As to Drk^Angel not getting any releif from using imatrix ( i am sorry to hear that )it is the only abortive that has ever worked for me. PFDAN to everyone!!!!!!!!!! Lenny

Lenny- i am glad that you posted this info re your experience with imatrix. I have been without my ch' for about 6 months however like the always do they came back last week.. This sat. i had a double battle and took the imtrx at 1:30 am and within 1 min my entire body was being stabbed by little pins. It was very similar to if you fall asleep on your arm and you get the tingles.. but it was my entire body. i was very concerned, but the ch pain lessened so the new sensation added by imtrx was worth the shot ( i used the entire 6 shot)
