Also any new preventatve therepy I should know about ? or is it back to predisone, lithium, etc) here is the list of medications i have used in the past. I'm sure it's all to familiar to most of you.

neurontin -300mg 3/3x
depakote - 125mg 3/3x
ambien 10mg
stadol ns
imitrex injection -  6 (3) mg
verapamil 80mg 2x bedtime

Thanks in advance for any info

Roger - you hit most of them but you didn't mention Oxygen as an abortive. It is a lifesaver for quickly aborting a CH. Read up on it here and make sure you use it correctly (non rebreather mask at 12 - 15 lpm)
I use Verapamil (180 mg per day) as a preventative and it has worked very well after it got "built up" in my system (about five days worth). As an abortive I've had good success with Imitrex and O2.
I think "Imagren" is Imitrex marketed overseas. Someone correct me if that's wrong.
I haven't used the other stuff you mentioned so I can't comment.
Good luck

Roger

Do look into O2 as Domm suggested!

There are several other Triptans on the market, including a new one with a much, much longer half life.  But it seems that nothing comes close to Imitrex injections for pure speed of relief.  (Search under, Maxalt, Zomig, Axert & Frovatriptan)

Botox has been dicussed here quite a few times, do a search to check out the comments.

I have chronic ch.  I have an apt. on 11/12/02 to have botox injections.  We shall see if it helps any or not.  To my knowlege there is no generic imitrix available yet.  Imigran is Imitrix.  They call it that overseas.  New abortives are amerge and frova.  Both are triptans like imitrix.  As far as new preventatives Topamax is about the only thing that comes to mind.  However, there are many preventatives available that are old that you didn't list.  I assume you know about them.  I believe the OUCH website has a good list of possible medications.  Check it out if needed.
