I have been taking magnesium for about 8 days now with some pretty good dumb luck I think.  No pain in 7 of those days.  Smiley I have had shadows but nothing developed to a HA.  Mine wake me at 11:30 PM. Just curious if anyone else ever tried Magnesium by itself with any long term luck.

Episodic suffers who use preventives between episodes how did you get your doctor to prescribe.  My episodes come around twice a year for a little over a month. Plus a couple that just hit me throughtout the year.  In their absence I just wait for the next time. My doctor thinks if imitrex is working during the episode why take something all year. Have not talked to him about taking preventives during a cycle as imitrex knocks them out.

Any long term chronics ever tried Mg with any success? Kinda loaded question there. You wouldn't be chronic with success.  Tongue Hope you know what I mean.

Curtis- I read a bunch of stuff about Magnesium on this board a while back, some reported good success, others not so good. Do a search for *magnesium and I think you'll get some fairly recent posts on it.
Glad you've had a week PF and hope you have many more

domm,

Good advice! I also try to encourage people to put a little effort into researching some of the info available here AND at the OUCH site.  So many people have spent sooooo much time compiling the information, it would be shame if folks didn't use it enough!

Hope your relationship with "Vera" is still working in your favor, I know I couldn't do without her.   Wink

PFDN's to you

Thanks guys,  I don't know how I have been missing the archives for med and treats at the bottom  of the main page. I have scrolled up and down plenty of times by now. I did find what I needed last night, havent seen a post from them in awhile so hopefully email is still good. If this works long term I am going to get on my soap box and preach preach preach.

The only thing I notice is I have some moderate neck pain pretty much most of the time. No meds seem to kill it. When I am in an episode I get secondary headaches in my neck and the back of my head. Maybe with Mg they are not as strong?????? Time will tell.

Thanks
