Hello everyone. My neuro recently put me on the beta blocker atenolol (tenormin). I have never had a beta blocker before. Ever since I started taking them, I have had some of my worst headaches in the past few months. None of the other meds that I have taken have ever had a side effect like this, or is it a side effect. Has anyone else experenced this sort of thing with tenormin? Feed back would be much appreciated...

I was on propanalol, a simlar drug another beta blocker.

It's used as a preventative for migraines. Did absolutley nothing for my CH, I changed neuros and discovered verapamil.

Print some info of the site and take it with you next time you see your neuro.

I tried tenormin a few years ago.  It did nothing whatsoever to help my CH.  What it did do was to make me terribly depressed.  It is a condition called the "beta blues".

...just to muddy the waters a little more....I have taken atenolol (Tenoretic 100/25) for the last three years for hypertension (high BP) along with Norvasc (5mg)...also for BP .....and indomethacin (75mg-time release) for arthritic knees.

These meds are also Rx'd for clusters for some folks (not me) and TCPH (I think that's right) but have had NO discernable effect on my clusters. In other words, I get CH with and without these meds, so WTF? I missed a cycle in 2001 (thankyouverymuch!) but have no clue why......

Tricky MOFO, this beast.......hope ya find yer key....best regards...Steve
