I can find no references from using the search button of anyone else here having tried a Sympathetic Nerve Block so am wondering if I may be the first to try it. To Nancy C., the parathyroid levels came back normal so we've ruled that out. The new neurologist was a dud. So I'm back to the Endocrinologist. If the surgical clips are resting on the sympathetic nerve in the neck, it can send pain signals directly to the eyes. There is one branch of the sympathetic nerve that innervates the eye and interruption or irritation to it can cause pain to the eye and or Horners symptoms. In order to see if the metal clips are on the sympathetic nerve I need a soft tissue MRI. However they also said that an MRI can't be done where there is metal in the body ...so ???? Also having difficulty finding a surgeon that could take the clips out. The neuro said she would make the surgeon who left them in there take them out. That would be a bit difficult since he is dead. Meanwhile they mentioned the Sympathetic Nerve block to block the pain from the sympathetic nerve in the neck via the oculosympathetic pathway to the eye. Just wondered if anyone else had ever tried this. Sincerely, Medlengough

I have tried both the Occipital & Sympathetic (Neck) Bundle Branch Block. Neither one had any effect on my Cluster Headaches. Just to give you some back-ground...I also suffer from severe cervical disc disease and the blocks were done, mainly for the neck problem. I was in Cluster Remission at the time, but H/A's came back after those blocks. Also Pain Doc had told me, if it did work, it would probably NOT be indefinite. That the longest relief I could expect would be 3 to 6 months. Hope this helps...
