Are you all being monitered for blood levels/thyroid? How soon after starting to take the drug did this begin?

About twice a year for 3 years, after that they figure your body can handle it. Lee

Hi Kari, I was on lithium last year. Not working this year (not uncommon, particularly with episodics). They usually monitor sometime after the 3rd day on it (it takes at least 3 days to build up in system) and depending on lithium blood level will increase/decrease dosage. Then, another level after another 3 days, etc. until in therapeutic range and after that only occasionally... Good luck. Jim R

I take Lithium every day, for the last 4 years, with some luck, in combination with verapamil. I had my blood checked 2 weeks after I first started it, then 1 month after that, then 3 months after that, and since then every 6 months. Wishing you PFDAN Kimberly
