Can you episodic lithium users tell me if you stay on year-round or start taking a bit before an expected cycle? My neuro says this is my call and I need some feeback, please.

My dad got out of the hospital on Monday from a three day (12 dose) of DHE45 and prednisone. On Wednesday, they were back. He has tried everything and recently went on Lithium. It made him shaky at first but now he's fine. More importantly, the headaches have been reduced almost 100%. The doctor said if need be, he can remain on Lithium for the rest of his life. But the course to take, is to see after he hasn't had a headache for a while and goes off the Lithium, if the headaches come back. If they do, then go immediately back on Lithium. I have not heard of any long time adverse affects from the medication. Good Luck.
