Nothing is working - Sansert?

Well... I had a DHE infusion last Thursday and the headaches started back on Saturday. I had 3 clusters yesterday... the last one being a scream and roll around on the floor one. I took imitrex nasal spray (because I had already taken 2 injections that day - and I'm trying to conserve). It did nothing... So an hour later I finally injected and it went away. I was fried though... 4 doses of imitrex in one day was a new high for me (3 injections and 1 nasal). So... Spoke to my neuro today.. they are running out of options... So far prednasone has been the only preventative that has worked, but I was on it for 3 months and he won't put me back on it. So... the next trial is sansert. I read all the stuff about kidney failure, fibrosis of the lungs, etc. But wanted to get a real life story. Any one try Sansert? Did it work? What were your side effects? Did you have to go off of it because of kidney issues or fibrosis? Thanks! Mark P.S. I am Chronic.

Mark, I take it that Verapamil did not work for you? It is the only preventative that seems to work for me. I, too, was on prednisone and Sansert.... The only thing that Sansert did for me was change my outlook on things.... Maybe others had better success with it. I did not. Good Luck! Slammy

Unfortunately Verapamil did not work.... I've tried: verapamil neurontin depacote paxil prozac lithium celebrex inderal prednisone Bellergal Elavil Nimotop and a whole bunch of others that I can't remember their names! Prednasone is the only one that has ever worked And Imitrex injections are the only abortives that really work for me. Mark

Verapamil Retard 120mgX5-7/daily during cycle Oxygene alone at 10ltm for 15 minutes or combined with imitrex-shots does miracles. The shots should start working in 6-9minutes.a few secons after that you are almost painfree Prednisolone in high doze for 10 days 80mg then over a 3 weeks periode step down like 60-40-30-20-10-5mg /daily This is the miraclecure for me,but i`m not a doc.just another clusterhead from Norway Take care my friend Svenn

Hi Mark, methysergide (Sansert®) is not an option for a chronic at all ! A MD can prescribe it/a patient take it for a maximum of 6 months - after that time heavy side effects will show up earlier or later inevitably. ATB! Thomas

My neuro is saying 6 months on, 2 months off w/ prednasone, 6 months on, etc. etc. etc. Something has to stop these things! Mark
